Amber's POV

A few days have passed and I kept asking Alice if my parents have come home but her answer is always the same and because they aren't home I have a chance to investigate where my violet eyes came from, what they mean, and why I'm the only one with them.

Hopefully, I get an answer for at least one of my questions. I never saw my parents have these eyes but they could've hidden them from me as I do to other people. I already know William left this morning to his office. I leave a note letting him know I'll be with Alice before I leave.

No wonder the pack was attacked, their sucks. I go over to my old house after I text Alice if she wants to join me. It feels surreal being in front of my house after a month. I grab the key under the mat and go inside, I put in the alarm code to disable it. I go over my parent's room first trying to find something that will help me understand everything. A couple of minutes later Alice shows up.

"Hey girl, what you doing?"

"They left everything so I'm trying to find something to help me understand what my eyes mean... one of them has to have something" she nods and helps me look around.

We've been looking around the entire house for almost three hours.

"There's nothing, how can they have nothing" I'm over the counter in the kitchen with my head in my hands tired after searching the house.

"What about the attic?" Alice suggests, I lift my head getting some hope back.

"Of course! Why didn't think of that"

"Is it okay if I head home, James is going to be home soon and I haven't seen him in a couple of days because of work"

"Of course, go with your husband and take care of my niece or nephew. Thanks for helping and say hi to him for me"

"Will do" she laughs while she hugs me before she leaves.

I pull down the string attached to the ceiling bringing down the latter. I climb only to see nothing because of the darkness, I grab my phone turning on my flashlight. There's only one box, I go over and grab it before getting down.

I close the attic before I go down to the living room to open the box. Inside it is full of journals, I grab a random one to recognize my mom's handwriting inside.

I start to read it and it's from when she was young, 17, young. I've been reading them for hours, this is the closest I've been with my mom and it's from a piece of paper. I read about her life before and how she met my dad but the next journal entry completely destroyed everything I've ever known.

The journal says that I'm adopted.

Is that why they didn't treat me right because they were my real parents? Who are my real parents and why did they give me up?

I came here looking for answers but I'm going to leave with even more questions.

I don't feel like shifting, I didn't want to get to the apartment fast and I wanted to walk to be able to process what just happened. The parents I thought I had aren't really my parents, my mom... I mean Veronica wrote that I showed up in their doorstep and her mother wouldn't let her give me up.

At the beginning of my life, my grandma took care of me but unfortunately, she passed away before I turned two years old. I've been reading her journals over and over again but she never mentions someone that could possibly be my parents. I walk through the apartment only to see William fuming.

"Where the hell have you been? Is this going to be a regular thing now, you leaving and having me constantly worry about your safety because you won't let me in, you are still my mate and the Luna of this pack you still have that responsibility" I wanted to tell him that I did let him in and that he betrayed me but all I could say was.
