Chapter 1

Shannon's P.O.V

"Honey this is so exciting"! My mum told me while I was packing my car getting ready to head off to college. I couldn't believe it, soon I will be leaving for college. This was basically the next step growing up leaving my parents behind and my little brother Patrick. I shut my car boot and turned around looking at mum.

"Well I'm all packed up and I better head off or else it will be dark by the time I get there"

"Alright well you better go say goodbye to Patrick because his going to miss you heaps" I nodded my head walking into my house where I basically grew up, I'm sure going to miss this place but studying creative writing is going to help me in life. I walked up stairs looking for Patrick

"Patrick"? I walked my past my empty room but saw a small figure sitting on the ground, I knocked on the door and Patrick turned his head trying to smile but I knew he couldn't

"Hey buddy, I'm all packed up so I'm about leave thought I would come and say goodbye"

"Do you have to go whose going to be there when mum and dad yell at me"? Patrick said looking up at me. I sat down next to Patrick

"Look I know I'm going to be gone all year but I will try my best to visit when I'm free and look I'm only 5 hours away so I'm not too far away"

"You promise you'll visit"

"Pinkie promise" I said holding out my pinkie finger, Patrick smiled at me and we pinkie promised that I would come visit hopefully this weekend coming because I knew what Patrick would want to see me even if it was a week.

"Now let's go downstairs because I know dad will want to say goodbye as well" I got up helping Patrick up and we both walked down outside where Dad and mum were waiting for me. We had a family hug and before I got in the car Dad stopped me

"Honey hang on a sec, I want to give you something" Dad gave me an envelope, I opened it up and here in seemed like there was about $800. I shook my head knowing this is too much

"Dad I can't take this"

"You can and you will your mother and I have been saving this money and left it a surprise" I looked up at dad pulling him into a hug

"Thank you so much dad I'm going to miss you so much" I pulled away from dad and started tearing up "Alright well I better go or else I'll be late" Patrick ran up to me giving me a big hug and I gave mum a hug finally I got in the car driving to my new home for next 4 years.

I grabbed my bags that I needed most importantly with a piece of paper in my hand with the information I looked around trying to find the freshmen building, I noticed a boy with blonde hair standing with a boy with red hair wearing a snap back they looked older so they probably know where everything is. I walked up to them soon noticing they were being typically frat boys I rolled my eyes tapping the blonde boy on the shoulder

"Excuse me" the blonde boy turned around followed by the red head who was smirking his ass off "Sorry to bother you, but do you know where this building is"?

"Sure let us take you there"

"Oh okay thank you" I said following the boys

"By the way I'm Luke and this is Michael"

"Let me guess one of you are head of your frat house"? I said but they soon laughed at me

"No we wish but our buddy Ashton is head of house even if he isn't a senior but next year will be his last year" Michael said looking at me

"So his a junior" I asked

"Basically" Luke said, we stopped outside of a building and Luke said "So this is your building and hopefully you have a great roommate by the way we never got your name"

"Oh sorry my name is Shannon it was nice to meet you guys and hopefully I see you around campus" I was about to walk away but Michael stopped me

"If you're not too busy you should come over to our frat house for a party"

"Oh I'm not a party type" they both laughed again and Michael spoke up again while walking backwards

"Yeah we've heard that before and good luck keeping that type away from you" the boys soon walked away and I was left confused, I shook the thought of that and made my way to my room for this year.

I opened my new room seeing my roommate already done putting her things away, I noticed a girl with straight purple hair putting photos up of people, I decided to knock on the door to get her attention she turned around smiling

"Hi, you must be my new roommate I'm Jenna and you are"?

"Sorry I'm Shannon nice to meet you; I see you're already set up"

"Yeah is that all your brought or" I looked behind me seeing the bags I left on the floor

"Oh no, no I've got some left in my car I'll get those in a minute"

"Alright so why did you choose to come here"?

"To be a writer like I want to be a creative writer and maybe someday be an author"

"That sounds great so you would be an author just like John Green and that chick that wrote hunger games"

"Yes Jenna, so enough about me what do you want to do"?

"I'm studying to be a English teacher which will be difficult"

"Well good luck with that"

The next 20 minutes we talked about our lives before coming here, Jenna has a boyfriend back in Perth named Chayce who decided to go to a college much closer to home but once Jenna got accepted to this college she wanted to leave straight away and that's exactly what she did.
