Chapter 6
Scarlet's POV
That night I dreamed that my alarm went off at an ungodly hour and that when I got dressed I had these weird tattoos on my back. When I woke up from the strange dream I threw on a black open-back t-shirt and short jean shorts. I glanced in the mirror to fix my makeup and went to wake Maverick for school.
"Mama, guess my favorite part of school!" Maverick said, jumping with energy on the walk to school.
"What baby?" I asked, he was still only in preschool.
"Recess! Me and the boys play baseball!" Maverick exclaimed. I wasn't suprised. Maverick always loved playing with balls or trying to understand sports, juggling two jobs I wish I had more time to play with him. Speaking of work, I dropped off Maverick and headed to the diner. I put on an apron around my waist and grabbed my notepad and pen. I was waiterssing for at least 3 hours and there was no sign of Aiden. Around 2 he finally showed up and for some reason he seemed uncomfortable when he saw me. I walked over to take his order and something was definitely different about him, about us, but I like it. Although I barely know Aiden, I felt closer to him.
"What can I get you?" I asked him, pulling out my notepad.
"Your phone number finally," he half joked.
"Anything else?" I asked, scribbling on my notepad as if I was putting down his order.
"How about 2 BLT's that we can have during your break?" he asked.
"I would like that," I whispered, now leaning on the table so that our faces were only inches apart. He leaned in put his lips against mine. It was perfect and made my stomach tingle until I was interupted by the manager.
"Back to work Scarlet," she said. Although she was one of my bosses, I didn't have to worry about this job because my sister knew my situation and wouldn't fire me. I giggled and skipped away with a crazy grin on my face and kept looking back at him.
"When's your break?" he asked heading to the restroom but brushing past me. I held up 10 fingers and he nodded. The next ten minutes were almost longer than when he wasn't even here yet. He snuck up behind me, pressing himself into my back and tracing patterns onto my back since my shirt was open. When I tried to turn around he put his sweatshirt over me. It was warm, cozy and seemed to smell like him. After we finished eating I realized how fast I was falling for him.
"Don't forget your sweatshirt, and lunch is on me," I said although it wouldn't make paying the bills any easier.
"No way! Keep it, I can't have my girl getting cold. And I'm paying. Go get me the bill," he said, gently slapping my ass. I giggled and went to get the bill. I scribbled down my number on the bill and handed it to Aiden. My shift was over so I kissed him goodbye and headed to go pick up Maverick. If my face looked like his then it must have had another stupid grin that made me look crazy happy.

After I gave Maverick a bath, I went to shower and saw the tattoos from my dream. It didn't hurt and I know that I didn't go get a tattoo. I didn't have time and wasn't missing any money. My mind ponder this as I headed to the club and decided that I would just have to embrace the designs on my back.
