Chapter 6 - Hurt

"Gabe!! " Clem shouted. She quickly picked up the gun from the raider she killed and shot the last raider in the head.

Gabe held his shoulder in pain. "Fuck! "

Clem quickly ran to Gabe. "A-Are you okay? " Clem asked in a worried voice

"No, I'm not okay. I got fucking shot in the shoulder! " Gabe said

"We have to get you back to the school. Ruby can patch you up" Violet said picking up the buckets

Clem helped Gabe up before they all quickly walked back to the school.

"I-I'm so sorry... " Clem said

"It's okay... It wasn't your fault... " Gabe said

They arrived at the school. Willy opened the gate for them and they all got inside.

"Go to the nurses office. I'll send Ruby to you. " Violet said

Clem and Gabe walked quickly to the nurses office and got inside. Gabe sat down on the bed and Clem sat down on a chair beside him

Clem held Gabe's hand as tears were streaming down her face

"It's okay, Clem. He just shot me in the shoulder. It hurts like shit, but I'll get through it. I promise" Gabe said putting one hand on Clems cheek

"But I shouldn't have happened. He could've shot you in the chest, or even worse in the head. " Clem said while still crying

"But he didn't. Just think about that he only hit my shoulder and nothing else happened and nobody else got hurt" Gabe said before Ruby entered the nurses office.

"What happened to him? " Ruby said as she searched for everything she needed to stitch up his wound

"Some raiders threatened Violet and AJ. We tried to stop them but Gabe got shot in the shoulder... " Clem said

"Okay, did the bullet go through his shoulder or is it stuck in there? " Ruby asked

Gabe sat up so Clem could see if the bullet was stuck. But there wasn't a wound on his back.

"No, the bullet is stuck in his shoulder" Clem said

"That's bad. We have to get the bullet out of his shoulder. You have to hold him down while I get the bullet out and stitch up his wound" Ruby said

"O-Okay" Clem said nervously as she put one hand on his arm and the other hand on his chest.

Gabe closed his eyes. "Okay, I'm ready"

Ruby then started getting out the bullet. Gabe grunted in pain.

"Gabe, just look at me. Don't think about it" Clem said

Gabe then looked over to Clem and stared her in the eyes
He almost didn't feel his wound anymore

"You'll be fine, baby" Clem said

Ruby then got the bullet out of his shoulder. "Okay, now I have to stitch you up. "

Gabe didn't say anything. He just kept staring into Clems eyes.

"I think he's ready. Then let's go and Clem, continue with whatever you're doing to him right now. He's extremely calm" Ruby said as she then began stitching him up

"You have so beautiful eyes, baby" Gabe said. "They're so perfect. The color is golden. I love your eyes... "

"Well, you have beautiful eyes too. They're so big and brown. Just like a big brown mountain. I love your eyes too" Clem said sweetly

"Alright. He should be fine. But he should rest now and should drink a lot. He lost a decent amount of blood" Ruby said

"Okay but at least I'm fine now" Gabe said smiling a bit

"Hey I'll help you walk back to our dorm" Clem said

"No Clem, I'm fine. My shoulder is hurt, not my leg" Gabe said standing up

"Okay, I just wanted to offer you my help" Clem said before they both walked out of the room. "See you later, Ruby" They both said

"Yeah, see ya later" Ruby said closing the door

"Are you really fine? I know, how much it hurts getting shot in the shoulder" Clem said as they were walking down the hallway to their dorm

"Yeah, I'm fine. My shoulder hurts like hell, but it's okay I think... And you never told me, that you got shot in the shoulder too? How did that happen? " Gabe asked

"It happened when I was younger... It was around that time, when AJ got born. Some Russian kid wanted to leave our group and take two other people with him. I tried to stop them from leaving and he just shot me in the shoulder. " Clem said

"Sounds like he was a complete shithead. I can promise you one thing, if he is still alive and I'll see him some day, he'll regret shooting you" Gabe said looking at Clem

"I don't think, he's still alive. He was a fucking coward. He probably died on the same day. " Clem said as they entered their dorm

AJ was already sitting on his bed waiting for them to return.

"Are you okay, Gabe? " AJ asked

"Yeah, I'm alright kiddo. It's not that bad" Gabe said smiling before sitting down on his bed

"I... I'm sorry... I could've helped you guys, but I lost my bullets somewhere" AJ said looking down

"It's not your fault, goofball. It was just bad luck and nothing else. " Clem said sitting down beside Gabe

"But still, I could've helped somehow. I was just standing there while you were killing them" AJ said

"Buddy, you distracted them and that's enough. They all would've focused on us and nobody would be alive now" Gabe said

"Yeah... At least I distracted them. " AJ said as he then laid down in his bed.

"Uhm.. What are you doing, kiddo? " Gabe asked

"I'm bored... I don't know what to do now. So I thought, why not sleep for a bit now? " AJ asked giggling a bit

"That's a good idea. Gabe has to rest for a while too now" Clem said

"Do I really have to? " Gabe chuckled

"Yes, you have to. Ruby said, you lost a decent amount of blood. That's why it's important for you to rest now. " Clem said

"Okay, but only if you stay with me" Gabe said laying down in bed

"Yeah, sure. I'm not tired or anything, but sure" Clem giggled laying down beside him. He wrapped one arm around her waist as he closed his eyes.

"I love you, Clem" Gabe said smiling with his eyes closed

"I love you too, Gabe" Clem said smiling back before closing her eyes as well.
