You saved me

Lucas POV

When Maya goes towards the track and stands right on the edge, I figure out what she is doing. I run forward and attempt to grab her torso, but I can't. Instead I end up grabbing her arm and I see the flashing lights of the train. It takes all my strength to pull her up because she is using all of hers to resist me. I get her onto the platform just a second before the train hits where she was. I am still holding onto her and she is crying. That's when I hug her. I pull her into my chest so tight and so hard. And she just cries.

"Why are you crying darlin?" I whisper into her ear.

She looks at me with those big sad blue eyes and I feel my shirt getting wet as she sobs into it. I stroke her hair as she is crying. Through the sobs, I hear her ask in a small voice "why did you" I hear as she gasps for air. "Why did you save me?" I finally hear her say.

"Because, no matter what you think, you can never be replaced. I would never want to hurt you. And it seems like you had something else on your mind. Is everything ok Maya?" I thought I was being sincere, but it only made her cry more. She clutched me really hard. I can hear that she can barely breathe so I try and calm her down. She gets up and tries to walk a little and she does. I get up and follow her. She is swaying a little, so I put my arm around her to steady her.

"What's wrong? You know, I want to help you. I don't want to see you hurting."

She looks me directly in the eyes. She takes a deep breath. Then she asks me something. "Will you.."
