"Ohmygod mum hurry up , give us the toast quickly we literally can't afford to be late on the 1 st day !"
Here take!" Grabbing the overfried toast , I quickly shove the piece of bread in my mouth, and so does karen.
"Eat & talk , you sound gibberish & aslo you ll choke " she said grabbing the car keys
"Whatev lets go" i say shoving my bag in the car and sit inside next to karen.
The drive wasnt too long amd karen explained me all the details i needed for today on the way . Mom dropped us right in front of the gates so we didn't have to walk much.
" we dont have the first class together so you are all by yourself ruth , dont get caught in drama stay safe call me if you need anything and bye am super late meet you in lunch" karen says and leaves after giving me a slight hug , " byeeeee ya i will sir" i say and start walking while plugging in my earphones and listening to JAMES BAY~US , i start ignoring the gazes that I start getting.

I start walking towards the stairway to find my class  , the campus was huge & it was crowded like crazy , ofcourse the 1 st "
I was Walking through the corridors amd searching for room no.403 , i am practically lost, but I cant not unsee the wierd gazes that i have been recieveing as if they are seeing a 'DEAD PERSON ALIVE' cutting off my thoughts i see the board in front my me 403 , okay i am here lets get done with this.
Thank god the professor wasn't yet in class, i enter the class looking around for familiar faces & then I notice HIM , KEN yes him ! . No no stop my heart was beating faster than i can even count, I would literally get a cardiac arrest if I don't stop staring, suddenly his eyes catch mine & he practically stares at me with . There wasnt any solid emotion he looked at m and quickly ignoring what he just saw was back to talkin with his friends.
I expected him to speak to me or atleast wave , but no he did not , infact he acted like he didn't even know who i was?
I stop myself from crying & grab the empty seat in the 1st row
The lecture was boring, I hardly payed attention to Mr.bing telling us about his schedule to teach us math
Maybe he didn't recognise me !
Maybe he didn't know how to react!
Maybe Adrian told him everything!
Oh shit nonononono stop right there you stupid brain. I am sure Adrian wont do that, his pathetic ego would have hurt if he said his girlfriend was in "LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE!"
Nearly 45 mins later,
The bell rang, i packed up all my stuff & waited near the classroom door for Ken to come out ,
As he came out , he practically ignored me & started walking off.
Woah not that is something I wondered.

Keeping all of my EGO aside i yell , my voice clear enough for him to hear
"HEY KEN!!"
He turned around & luckily he started walking towards me
"So you are back huh?" he said calmly
"Yea"
"Okay, cool bye  gotta go"he responded
What the hell , he is again trying to avoid me . For a moment I thought he would be happy to see me, but no it meant nothing for him! Atleast how he is showing it to be.
I say keeping my ego aside for the 11223th time
" see you in break?!"
"I got some work to do , i am leaving college now, meet the group in break They would be HAPPY to see you"
"K cool"
And just like that He left , JUST LEFT , he didn't even say BYE? Or see you later ! Cmon ruth silly you, you thought he liked you or something! He is practically upset because you are back I thought silently
I snap out my thoughts and try not to burst into emotions i run towards karens class.
" omg karen i missed you!" I tell her as sson as she gets out of her class.
" goodness now you know how i felt for teo goddamn years!" She retaliated
" whats up you look tensed" she asks me
" yeah its ken..." i tell her
" what about him ?" She asks
" he is acting way too different and unbothered" i tell her
" well thats ken , you met the right person. He has been like that forever now nothing new" she tells me .
WHAT ! Why this is not right.
" why?" I ask  karen
" lets talk in lunch okay?" She tells me and i agree.

All my classes umtil lunch were super exhausting and boring as nothing but ken was what i was interested in . At lunch karen was going to tell me everything and i hadnt seen adrian around here too which was strange. I didn't meet kens group unsure about the reaction. I sat in the very far end of the cafeteria and waited for karen. I texted her about her whereabouts and she said she would be there in not more than 3 mins .
She came soon enough and decided to get straight to the point.
Clearing her throat she starts " " after you left nothing was like before, like nothing , Adrian hardly spoke to anyone from the group, & infact after you left within a month we heard he was shifting to newyork, he left just like you did , without letting anyone know. Everyone in the group was devastated, ken was basically super upset
, 'you cant even imagine'

" His mom died ruth!"
"WHATTHEHELL? Omg noo Mrs.hemsworth was a very nice women, when i left she was very healthy!" I said as tears rolled down my eyes .
" she had a major cardiac arrest" at that moment ken was very alone ruth , there was nobody besides him NOT EVEN HIS BESTFRIEND!"
These words hit me again, whats with karen , & her slashing out the truth to me¿ " except maddie & his group , but you know since you both left he's practically become quite different"

His mom practically meant the world to him, i still remember him telling me how much he loved & cared for his mom. Her death must have affected him the most!

" are they still together?"

" ken & maddie are the still together?!
" yes they are ruth"

my next class was biology , i was super upset and my emotions were all mixed after what

karen had just told me . i didnt want lunch to get over as i had to face all these people again.

"look who is back huh?" i hear someone say and turn around to look , oh god not now . it was maddie with her bunch of dolls . "hi maddie" i force myself and say. she stops playing with her hair and pulls my chain i was wearing , kim had given it to me as a gift and i didnt like her filthy hand on it , i pushed her back and brushed off her touch from the neck. "easy girl" she said and laughed and her dolls did the same following her. "what
do you want ? maddie"
i say with annoyance in my voice , "what i want is you to get out of here and never come back, sounds easy?" she mocks
. "why are you scared and insecure that your boyfriend might stop drooling over you now that i am here?"
i spit out these words and maddie and her dolls gasp not expecting me to get them like that, OH GOD RUTH WHY i think to myself ,
cant you keep your dumb mouth shut . i wasnt thinking when these words fell out of my mouth and why did they? it wasnt like ken gave me any familiar vibes so why did i even say that.
"stay away from him, also i trust him enough to not fall for a creep and jerk like you" she says and turns around , walking away.
bitch i mumble under my breath .
i start walking to biology and playing kens' and maddies' words on repeat. i am lost in my thoughts as i reach the classroom door , i look up drifting away from my thoughts and look around for a seat , the class was almost full as i was quite late but luckily the teacher wasnt here yet, i look around to find the seat behind ken vacant i make my way through amd sit down waiting for the class to start.
" hey dude its going to be a sick night you should come!" A guy blabbered to ken
" yeah whatever will see" he replied
" afternoon students" mrs himper says aloud as she enters and everyone's attention is drawn to her . She starts explaining the schedule, ken as usual didnt note anything down and was fooling around . I jotted a few things and payed attention to stay distracted from KEN.
We were handed our schedule and lesson plan handouts as the class ended, the only place i wanted to go was home and meet karen asap!
It didnt take her long as she showed up pretty soon as i was walking down the hallway to ho to the parking area , she came running my way super excited.
" heyyyyyyy" she saidd wrapping her arms around my neck.
We kept walking out as we talked.
" yeah tell me" i said
" soo jenna is having this party tonight amd she invited usss! She calls it 'starters party'"
She explained .
" oh okay are you going?" I asked her
I kept my tone low to show no interest but in the back of my mind i was crazy thinking about if ken was going to this party, what of this was the thing that the guy was talking about in biology class. I was drawn out of my thought soon when karen stopped walking and stood right in front of me .
" whatt?" I asked her
" ahem ahem" she mocked
" whattt karen tell me already!" I yelled but my voice was low.
" WE are going to the party" she said and smiled so wide that I thought her cheeks were going to fall off because of the pressure.
" no am not , maybe you are" i told her
" oh comeon ruthzyyy" she whined
" not happening" i told her
As we fought over the party my mom soon enough arrived to pick us up , the argument continued throughout the drive.
" please ruth please please please" she begged
" no karen i dont think am prepared to be wild yet" i told her , smirking
" what is it girls" my mum intervened
Ofc now karen in going to butter her all up and they both would try to convince me into going to this stupid party.
" so this girl is throwing this really cool party so that we get mixed with people before the year starts and things get crucial, but ruth doesn't want to come" she explains my mom.
" oh ruth just go, you must have missed such things back at london" she tells me.
I didnt want any more talking so I ended up agreeing.
" yayyy" karen exclaimed with joy.
" calm down we haven't yet gotten to the party" i told her
" oh we will soon" she eyed me.
