''Where am I?''

Cliché movie dialogue? Not for Aaron. As the first light of dawn breaks the sky, it reaches Aaron's soul before his body. Even with eyes closed, he could  sense the strength of blue, empowered by the vision of his soul. His organs stimulate, but he never opens his eyes without absorbing the light thereby. As he opens them, his once-serene soul twists and turns and writhes  and batters and he falls in a deep, dark oblivion, amidst the abyss of the blue. Dreaming with eyes open never seems to real.

He goes to his bath again, and stares at his reflection in the mirror. The same he ; the night before and the morning after. He stands there, mortified as to what happened yesterday. Brushing his teeth, Aaron stares outside and browses through the garden with his physical eyes for any trace of the paper he threw away. To his relief, there were none. He is ought to look for that before going to school, though.

In the table, Aaron's mother is talking about how his little sister, Ariana, is doing great to cope with her new school but does Aaron bother? He takes two grand sip of his coffee and fastens his jacket. While tying his sneakers, Aaron tries to appear busy when he catches his mother looming over him.

'What, mom? I'll be late for my English class. I'll do the laundry when I return. I cleaned the room so my punishment is over, I guess. Hope I get the laptop by this weekend--'' .

'' Aaron dear, '' his mother interrupts with a gleeful smile, '' it's completely okay, you know. I admit I was  mad at you previously but I just cannot stand you riding in your someone's car without my permission, you know''.

Aaron shakes the thoughts off as he opens the main door to the school, and the daily caricature starts. A stream of students go meandering around the corridor as the bell rings, and Aaron has to be a part of them.  ' So today...I get to show Shae freaking Donnogan what I got inside. He'd be amazed by what a person I can be, instead of another high-school perv or a friendzoned dipshit like you, Shae''. He leaves a lengthy sigh at the door as he enters, gripping his Jansport like before. Here we beginnnnn!

'F*ck'. He enters the corridor, swearing. Takes his tray, still swearing silently. Sits but soon finds out that he literally sat on a spilled milk puddle; swears again, bit louder this time. He literally got  smacked when he confessed that he forgot to bring his essay for presentation. At gymnastics, the first day is always the bad day as they say. Even after surviving that, he got a detention for being late 4 times this week. What a day, he thinks, when he realizes the day hasn't even started as he notices the 'Shae' gang enter the canteen, along with Ms. Converse Shoes.

''Yo knucklehead, get the F out. That's our seat since freshman year. How do people like you even enter this canteen without knowing that? Patheticcc.''

Aaron looks at a classmate as he loses to Shae's threat. Doesn't care. Nearly half of the canteen looks at him; doesn't care either. Aaron's eyes  are all over on Ms. Converse Shoes and Shae. His other friends may not even bother about Aaron telling something to his face, but what if they do? What if they start a canteen scene like those typical American TV shows? What if Converse Shoes gets the wrong impression of him? What if he doesn't do anything at all? What if--

''You miiiight wanna change seats, ya know...'', a voice calls from behind. ''Oh, Ash! Hey!''. Moments later, Aaron realizes he's still sitting on that spilled milk.

''Haha yeah...I will. Actually I was just regretting the day you know haha and also the fact that I forgot the essay and--''

''You gotta admit Shae looks cute around Irina. Makes you wonder if they are just friends''. God, Aaron. Wtf. '' They have been like this since forever: opposites attract, as they say''. While Ashley fixes her gaze at the gang, Aaron shakes his head dismissively and tries to focus. ''Oh, really? Why aren't you with them, anyways?''

''Cuz alikes repelll''. As she makes that L with a lengthy tongue, her dimples sprout, gleaming with the midday sunlight.

Outside in the parking lot, it's emptier than usual, except some teachers' transport parked here and there. Man, overtime sucks. As he reaches out for his key, he hears disconcerting sounds from behind. Just the usual school drama, he thinks, but is promptly stunned as he hears a familiar voice. The only voice he wanted to hear all day.

'' Geeez shut that mouth, Shae. I excused you for the 30g weed in your bike pocket last week. Can't spare the speed-ticket this time.''

''Inspector Betton, this is the last time. Pleaseee just...I'll do everything okay? I'll talk to my brother-in-law about your promotion. He'll mend every--''

''Didn't I say shut up? ''

Oh. My. God. Aaron's stomach churns as he lets his ears dance with his brain. ''Speed-ticket? Inspector Betton? Shae?'' he contemplates, before stuffing all his excitement inside and going forward.

''Ehhh. Leave it, uncle Betty. He's just...it's his last year here. Let'em chill. ''.

They both turn around to face Aaron. '' Aaron? God's grace! How long haven't we met??'

Aaron finally gets to smile the first smile of the day.
