His First Night 🌙

Same day. Same moment.

With a deep sigh, Aaron opens the door and comes right in, and as he closes it, he gives a prolonged stare at Ashley's door. Aaron almost makes up his mind that it was just Ashley being Ashley, always the cryptic girl; but something inside Aaron felt like a small burnt area. Still fretting about Ashley, he turns about just as he almost slips on the carpet and his back meets the door, finding support. He almost forgot about Irina staying with him , as she sits on the bed, scrolling through her phone with her earbuds on. Aaron presses his chest tightly, as if closing an overloaded suitcase. He tries to conceive all the emotions somewhere deep inside him, but inside it's all gunshots. He looks out of the window, but his sight pulls him back. He feels the air of the room tightening inside his lungs, as his senses slightly tilt.

Taking a few more deep breaths, Aaron becomes pragmatic. He walks towards the bathroom like nothing happened, often looking down, often mumbling and shutting his eyes tightly. Irina, seeing Aaron, pulls her earbuds out and looks up to him, giving a warm, reassuring smile.

''Hey!! How did it go?'' .

Aaron, avoiding her eye contact, faces the door and  grabs the knob, and says in a rough voice, '' Yeah it was...fun''. He clears his throat to not sound rude.

''Greatt!! It'll be greater once we dive in to the Equinox pool! Maaan I wanted to swim so bad. Seemed like Ashley read my mind. Like LOL''.

''Yeah...it..must be great...''. Suddenly Aaron feels breathless, and the last words turn into gasps just as Irina tilts her head sideways.

''You okay...? Aaron?''.

Aaron releases the door knob and faces Irina, his shoulders suddenly becoming stiff.

'' Well...I can't force you to swim, ya know. You had a heat stroke early and now an apparent Shae-stroke. You better stay. I'll inform the gang. You can sleep on the bed if you want to, while I'm away''. Irina half-smiles, as Aaron nods on the way to bathroom.

Half an hour later, as Irina exits the room in her shorts and sunglasses as Neha enters to call Aaron for the last time, but she stops as she notices him sleeping on the couch, and thus closes the door carefully.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~OO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aaron wakes up, but not on the hotel room. He is on the exact place as Marzia was, a place where he shouldn't be now. He shifts sideways, to see Marzia lying on the floor, lifeless, as Mrs. Reeves is on top of her, an alarm clock dripping with blood;  blood streaming from Marzia's skull. He is screaming out her name, but everytime he does, black bars cover his vision. The louder he does, the bars get thicker and thicker until all he sees is black. One final shout, and he bounces back to his senses.
He is panting while looking everywhere. Irina almost falls from the bed due to his sudden movement. She grabs the side-table and keeps a hand on her chest, breathing out the tension.
''Whoa chill, Aaron. It's just a bad dream'' .
Bad dream.
Not a nightmare.
Aaron sits upright just as his skin detaches from his sweaty t-shirt. He raises a hand as an apology to Irina, and adjusts his shirt, shaking his head.
His head feels heavy and he has no energy left to feel anything. His mouth suddenly speaks, '' Where is everyone?''.
''Well...asleep I guess. Shouldn't you instead ask what is the time now?''.
Aaron mutters a 'holy sht' as he flicks his arm to look at his watch out-of-habit , but it isn't there.
''It's 12:30 AM. You have successfully slept for more than 9 hours'' , she says, adjusts herself on the bed, '' Well, the gang knocked themselves out after the BBQ''.
