////Chapter 45////
Chaeyoung felt nervous. Her hands were getting all sweaty and every once in a while she would wipe her palms against the fabric of her black cargo pants. Her pulse quickened when she would think about facing the one person she had avoided for, well, the rest of her life. "You literally talked to her a few days ago about Mina, why the hell can you not function." She grumbled to herself.
Mina ended up kicking out Chaeyoung, in the most passive way, considering she was hellbent on fixing her project. The latter understood so she didn't protest any longer when she saw Mina grab a fork from the kitchen. Considering that had happened, Chaeyoung had to go somewhere else.
So where did she go?
Well, she decided to pay her mother's company building a visit. Chaeyoung stood shaking in front of the rather tall building. Personally, she's never been here, never in her whole life. Obviously the reason was resentment and just pure anger but as she grew older, Chaeyoung just never had the time to even catch a personal glimpse of the building.
Until today, that is.
The large letting read Lacuna and it was placed right in the center where everyone could see the company name. Chaeyoung breathed in, shaking her legs and walking inside, cursing under her breath when she would hesitate. Thankfully, she dressed herself a little formal before walking into the establishment because all the others inside the building looked incredibly professional.
Chaeyoung approaches the front desk, greeted with a woman who seemed more than happy to be in her job. "Excuse me?" She gulped. The woman looked up from her laptop and greeted the younger girl with the same smile she had when she spoke with a former visitor.
"How may I help you?"
"Oh, Uh, I'm here to talk to Seo-Yeon." Chaeyoung muttered, although it was loud enough for the front desk lady to hear. Chaeyoung didn't bother going into detail as to why she wants to speak with the CEO.
"I see." The lady pushed her hair back before glancing down at her computer monitor, "Did you make an appointment?"
Crap. That's probably what I should've done. Chaeyoung cursed herself, scolding the little mistake she made. "N-No." She sighed, scratching the back of her nape nervously.
The front desk woman smiled generously, as if hoping to ease Chaeyoung's worries, "Alright then. Can I get your name? Maybe I arrange something for you." The woman's fingers landed on the keyboard, ready to type something.
"Son Chaeyoung."
"Ok so, Son-Son Chaeyoung?!"
"I-Uh-" Chaeyoung nodded, confused, "Th-That's me." She smiled, wearily. The lady at the front desk tapped her friend, who reacted almost the same though a little more controlled. Do I know them?
"You're Seo-Yeon's daughter right?" The other woman ask. She looked much older than the previous front desk lady Chaeyoung talked to, if Chaeyoung had to guess, probably the same age as her own mother.
"Yeah." Chaeyoung mumbled, though it took her a bit of time to answer. She's not used to calling herself the daughter of Seo-Yeon, so this was a new feeling. It felt, nice, to say the least.
"I'll call her up! I'm sure she'll be happy to see you." The lady asked, her grin reaching both her ears. She, almost instantly, grabbed the phone, but Chaeyoung had gestured for her actions to stop.
