It's My Fault

Chapter 1

I woke up Monday morning from my dad coming into my room. "Come on Ellie time to get up for school." I groaned and moved my head under my pillow. He laughed at me and hit my door a couple of times. "Be ready in 10." Groaning as an answer I heard him walk away. I got up and stretched out my limbs and ran a hand through my hair as I closed my bedroom door. I picked out a white tank-top, red flannel, and white ripped Jean's. Finishing my morning routine I brushed my hair out and went to the kitchen to eat. Walking out I looked at my dad who was eating cereal and he pushed a bowl out to me, I smiled and started eating my cereal. Breaking the silence he asked me, "Do you want me to drop you off at school?" I shook my head and swallowed the food I had in my mouth, "It's okay, I'm going to walk to school." My high school was only 7 minutes away from my house so driving over there was pointless. My dad nodded his head and looked at his watch, "Honey I have to get going. I don't want to be late." I nodded and he kissed the top of my head while getting up to leave. My dad works 2 jobs, his first part of the day is a warehouse job then he comes home for a bit and leaves to work as a waiter at a restaurant nearby. My mom had died years ago from cancer so it was just me and my dad now. After I finished my cereal I grabbed my bag that was against the door and opened the door to leave. Outside my best friend Rose was waiting for me she smiled at me and I turned back around so I could lock the door. "Ready for school Ellie?" I shrugged and turned around to face her starting our walk to school, "I guess. I just want to graduate already." She nodded and readjusted her backpack on her shoulder.

"Hey we have 2 months left we are almost there." I looked over at her and nodded, "Yeah that's true." I looked straight ahead and saw the school coming up. I sighed, I didn't like school, I was the kid people made fun of on a daily basis. Rose noticed my mood and smiled sadly at me, "Hey it's okay like we said before, it's almost over." I looked at the ground nodding slowly and started walking towards the front doors. While walking to my locker with Rose on my right someone hit my book out of my hand. I went to pick it up when I looked up and saw who it was. His name is Matthew a freshmen who just joined basketball and was trying really hard to be accepted by the rest of the team. "Oh Ellie maybe you should watch were you are going next time." Rose was just about to yell at them when I simply pick up my book and walked away. I could hear Rose running to catch up with me since I walked away so fast. Reaching my locker and put my book in when I saw her in my peripheral vision. She smiled sadly at me and said, "Don't worry about them they are all morons. It's upsetting that Matthew tries so hard to be like them though." I sighed and turned around to lean on my locker watching everyone walk by, "Yeah that poor kid." Then the bell rang for first period and luckily my school only had 4 classes a day. Rose said, "Come on it's time for biology." We both walked to the other side of school for class. Rose and I took our seat in the right back corner of the room and she always sat next to me because no one wanted to sit next to the weird kid. During school I usually tend not to talk because if I do I always get weird looks. Rose is always giving me sympathetic looks and trying to comfort me from what is said to me.

Rose looked over at me and asked, "You did the homework right?" I nodded to her and asked her the same question. She nodded as well and then Stephen a couple seats in front of me turned around speaking loudly, "Look the weird kid is talking." Everyone started laughing and I looked down at the desk. I could tell Rose was glaring at him angrily and then the teacher came in quieting everyone. After class we have a little break for about 20 minutes. Rose and I both went to our usual tree right outside the cafeteria. It was one of the biggest trees on campus that Rose and I claimed since freshman year and sat there together ever since. Rose and I looked out to everyone who was minding their own business in silence. Rose moved a little closer to me and said, "It's peaceful from here. Away from everyone else." I nodded and looked over at her, "Yeah but also cause you're here with me." She smiled and we both looked out again until the bell rang telling us to go to second period. Rose and I only had first and last period together and all the rest we were by ourselves. Right now I was in computer class working on a assignment she gave out yesterday. I had to make my own website for any subject that I wanted. I chose to do one about clothes because it was the easiest thing to do and was pretty much done just putting some finishing touches on it. Once I had finished I looked over it to see the final product. I sat back in my seat and felt a very light tap against the back of my left shoulder. Turning around and saw a girl that had dirty blonde hair with brown eyes. She was wearing a graphic T-shirt with light blue Jean's. She smiled at me and said, "Hey that looks great." I gave her a small smile and thanked her quietly. I turned back around and went on my phone to pass the rest of the class period. I went into my pictures and scrolled to the bottom, the very first picture I had on my phone was Rose and I laughing hysterically while we were on my bed. I smiled remembering the memory.

Flashback
"Ellie you are crazy there is no way!" I hit her arm laughing still, "Yes there is Ro, go do it." She quickly shook her head, "Ellie I will not tell your dad that I am pregnant for a dare." I bursted out laughing even more and then my dad walked into the room, "What's going on in here ladies?" Rose looked at me with wide eyes panicking. I looked back over to my dad and shook my head, "Nothing dad just laughing at a joke Ro told me." He nodded and left down the hall to the livingroom. Once he was far enough away I busted out laughing again. Rose hit my arm and said, "That was terrifying not funny." I continued to laugh and soon enough Rose started laughing with me. What we didn't know is that my dad heard the whole thing and went back to take a picture of us laughing.

I had asked my dad to send me the picture after he had showed us it later in the night. I closed my phone and submitted my assignment right before the bell rang. Off to pre calculus. I hated this class I was never good at math I don't know why I decided to take this class. Groaning internally when the teacher started talking he went over a new assignment. I started on my work once the teacher finished talking and put my earbuds in. Drowning out everything I finished leaving me with 10 minutes left to do absolutely nothing. I looked up and around seeing people working, talking to each other, or just plain sleeping. The teacher was doing God knows what on his computer, not even paying attention to the class. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair can't this day be over already. All I want to do is go home. I sighed again and leaned my head on my desk. Closing my eyes I listened to the lyrics that were being sung slowly falling asleep. Ding! Ding! Ding! Finally. I packed my stuff and went to the cafeteria to get food. Rose meets me outside at the tree while I go to get food because she never eats the school food. They were serving pizza today what I had noticed on the menu board. I kept my earbuds in and bobbed my head to the music. Once I had gotten my food I turned to go outside, while opening the door I ran straight into a person. Luckily neither of us fell or dropped anything since we didn't hit that hard. I took one of my earbuds out and quickly said, "I am so sorry I wasn't paying attention." I looked up and noticed it was the girl from my second period that talked to me. She smiled and said, "Oh hey it's you, from computer class. Sorry here my name is Grace." She offered her hand in greeting, "Ellie." She smiled and said, "So about the whole door incident it was my fault because I was way too close to the door in the first place. But I'll see you tomorrow Ellie. Have a good day." With that said she smiled and walked past me going inside. Confused I walked over to Rose who saw the whole thing. I sat down and I looked at her still slightly confused. Scratching her head she spoke, "Well from what I can see that went well." I grabbed my pizza and answered, "Yeah weirdly well."
