It's My Fault

Chapter 8

I slept in since it was the weekend and had no plans, I ended up waking up at 1 in the afternoon. Even when I was wake I didn't want to get out of bed and I didn't hear anything from down the hall so I figured dad wasn't home. I was messing with my phone with my earbuds in when I felt someone in my room.  Looking up I saw Rose was standing there with a smile on her face. I smiled at her taking out my earbuds and motioned to the spot next to me. She walked over and laid next to me on her side to face me.  I continued to look at the ceiling when heard her ask, "Lazy day?" I laughed and nodded rolling onto my side to face her, "It's Saturday so good chance to sleep in and do nothing." Rose smiled and laughed slightly closing her eyes. "So any reason you came over Ro? Or you were just bored." She moved closer and said, "Just bored. We should take a nap." I could hear her tired voice.  Smiling I watched her slowly fall asleep, "Go for it I have a feeling I am going to fall asleep too." Couple minutes later Rose was out like a light. Being so close I started to admire her facial features like the slight pout and the very small freckles here and there and lucky for me she doesn't snore or drool. I smiled at her and fell asleep quickly.

Some time later I felt someone pushing me awake. "Ellie wake up honey." I opened my eyes slowly and looked to my left. "Hey I wanted to go see a movie today since you were asleep all day yesterday." I rubbed my eyes and realized Rose was gone. Looking over at my dad and nodded and groggily said, "I'll meet you in the livingroom." I saw him nod and then left the room closing the door behind him. Sitting up I stretched my limbs and heard popping while swinging my legs off my bed. Walking over to my dresser I changed into black capris and a maroon plain T-shirt. I brushed my hair out and went out to the bathroom to brush my teeth before meeting with my dad in the livingroom. He smiled and I asked him what movie we were going to watch. All he said was, "It's a surprise." When he paid for the tickets I found out we were going to watch the new bumblebee movie. Inside he bought a large popcorn for the both of us and we walked into our theater. After the movie was over my dad and I were talking about the parts that we liked. "I really liked the soundtrack of movie. They played some great throwbacks." I laughed at what my dad said and we went back home. When we parked in the garage my dad asked, "What do you want for lunch?" I thought about it for a second and answered with, "Pasta sounds good." He nodded and went to the kitchen.

I walked to my room and laid on my bed not knowing what else to do, I grabbed my headphones from under my pillow and plugged them in. Putting on my favorite playlist I closed my eyes and tapped my foot to the beat of the song. A couple minutes later I could hear a muffled tapping noise. I opened my eyes and saw my dad knocking on the doorframe. Smiling at him I took my earbuds out, "Foods ready." I paused my music and left everything on my bed. I walked with my dad to the kitchen so we could pour ourselves some pasta. We both went to the dining table and quickly went to eating. After we were both done I was feeling pretty tired and thought about taking a nap.  I looked at my dad and said, "I am going to go take a nap.  If I don't wake up again then I'll see you tomorrow morning before work and school."  He chuckled and said, "Okay honey."  I smiled at him and walked over to hug him.  We pulled apart and I walked to my room.  I walked back over to my phone and put my earbuds back in.  I'll let my phone run until it dies.  laying on my back I pressed play and quickly fell asleep with 'Amber Heard I found' playing in my ears.  At some point in the night my phone had died and I heard light tapping on my window.  Confused and still half asleep I sat up and took my earbuds out.  I looked at the time on my small clock sitting on my dresser and saw that it was midnight.  Who in the world is awake at this time.  Oh wait I am.

The tapping came back and I looked at my window.  Slowly walking over I opened the blinds.  Ro?  I opened the window and whispered to her in my sleepy voice, "Ro what are you doing here.  It's midnight."  She shrugged and whispered, "You going to let me in?"  I opened the window more and moved out of the way.  She climbed inside and I closed the window and blinds behind her.  I moved back over to where my dead phone was and plugged it in.  Hearing her shuffling and shoes drop to the floor I figured she was getting ready to get into bed with me.  "Ro I'm so tired."  I said while laying down on my side facing my door.  I heard more shuffling and then a cold arm over my stomach.  I sighed and moved more into her so she was the big spoon.  Sighing at the coolness of her skin I heard her whisper from behind me, "Go to sleep Ellie.  I'll be right here when you wake up."  Seconds later my eyes fell closed and went into deep sleep.  The next morning I woke up in the same position.  I smiled and looked down at Roses arm that was still around my waist.  I stretched in her embrace and she moved a bit behind me.  She moved closer involuntarily and I started humming some random song.  She moved more and mumbled, "Ellie why."  I chuckled and turned so I was facing her.  She used her free hand to rub her eyes.  I smiled at her and she gave me a sleepy one in return.  Moving to sit up I motioned for her to move, "Come on we have to get ready for school."  She groaned and mumbled,  "I hate Monday's."  I laughed and stood looking at her with my hands on my waist, "Yes I know now come on Ro."  I went to dresser and started changing, "I'll meet you in the livingroom."

When I had finished changing I went to the bathroom to do my business.  Afterward I walked to the kitchen and saw my dad eating a bagel.  He smiled at me and waved me over while pushing over the other half that I gladly took starting to eat it.  While I was still eating he walked over and gave me a side hug and kissed the top of my head, "I'll see you later honey."  I nodded and hugged him a little tighter.  He let go and walked out the door leaving for his first job.  Once the front door closed I heard footsteps coming down the hall and see a tired Rose walking out still in the clothes she came in the night before.  "You're not going to change?"  She waved it off and shook her head, "Nah it's okay.  Shall we go?"  I nodded and asked before I left the kitchen, "Want a fruit or something?"  She shook her head again and I shrugged.  We both left the house and started our walk to school.  "I just realized you don't have your bag for school."  She then looked behind her and shrugged, "I guess not.  Well we are too close to the school to turn back around.  I'll just not have it today."  I looked at her shocked, "Ro since when do you not care?"  She looked over and said, "We have until the end of this month before we graduate.  Then we are free to do whatever we want.  We are almost done I think I passed my limit now."  I nodded slowly because she did have a point.  I looked at the school and asked her, "Will you come with me to visit my mom after school?"  She nodded and we walked into the school.  Walking over to my locker Rose said next to me, "I'll see you after school Ellie."  Confused I looked over at her and before I could say anything I heard Grace on the other side of me, "Hey Ellie."  By the time I looked over at her then back Rose was gone.
