It was now Tuesday of the next week. I had only seen glimpses of Rose. She never walked over to me and I never walked to her. I could feel us drifting apart but I didn't do anything to stop it. I would simply shake it off and would talk to Grace. She had introduced me to a couple of other people which I got along with easily. But I could always see Rose in the corner of my eye. At the moment I was talking to the group who was talking about plans that we could possibly do after school. I simply nodded along but I wasn't fully in the conversation. My mind kept going to Rose, I internally groaned and started to walk away. Walking into the bathroom I looked at myself in the mirror, "What are you doing to me Ro." My eyes started to water and then the bathroom door swung open. Grace looked at me and quickly pulled me into a hug. "I can't lose her Grace." She only hugged me tighter when my tears reached her shoulder. For the rest of the day Grace had stuck by my side trying to keep my mind busy and had invited me to her house to hang out for a bit but I had to decline. "Sorry Grace I need to do homework that I haven't done it yet." She nodded while continuing to walk me to my car. She leaned against my car while I looked at her. "Another time Grace for sure." She put her hand on my arm and gave me a sympathetic look and pulled me into a hug that I quickly reciprocated. After a bit we let go and I said while opening my door, "See you later Grace." She smiled and nodded starting to walk away.

Once I was inside the car I leaned back in my seat watching Grace walk away. I took a deep breath and turned on my car driving home. On the way home I listened to the radio softly humming along with the music. Opening the front door I listened to see if anyone was home and when I didn't hear anything I walked to my room and turned on my speaker. I started playing my music and started my homework. Couple hours later I took a small break, walking out to the livingroom and said to myself, "I need to go for a walk." I walked back to my room grabbed my keys and phone and left the house walking to Rose and I's special spot. When I arrived I sat down on our rock and looked out to the water. Taking a deep breath I closed my eyes hearing the natural noises making me relax. I laid back on the rock and continued to listen to everything that was around. It wasn't until I felt like someone was next to me that I said something, "Ro." I opened my eyes and looked to my right. She was sitting next to me looking out to the water. Sitting up I looked out to the water as well, "I'm sorry Ro. For everything. I noticed us becoming distant but I didn't do anything to fix it and for that I am truly sorry." Rose took a deep breath and looked at her lap, "No it's my fault I knew it too and I could've came to you but I didn't either.  And I might've gotten a tad jealous of you finding other friends.  I knew it was bound to happen but I am truly happy you found some more people you can connect with.  I know this might sound selfish but I don't want to lose you or for you to forget me."

I shook my head and turned to look at her "Hey I will never let you go. Alright I want you to know that. You will always be my best friend. Nobody could ever change that." She smiled at me and pulled me in for a hug. Once we pulled away she smiled at me randomly. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She smiled even wider and said, "Take a deep breath." Confused I raised my eyebrow at her and before I knew it I was pushed into the water. I came up for air and stood up since the water only went about waist high. My hair was dripping wet and I had a look of surprise on my face. Rose bursted out laughing at me while holding her stomach. I started to ring out my hair but then I had an idea. Using my arms to get a good amount of water I splashed it all over Rose. She stopped laughing and I had started laughing instead. She was soaked head to toe and now had the look of surprise on her face, "Ellie how dare you!" She quickly jumped into the water and started splashing me. A water war quickly broke out until tons of water was swallowed and it started to get dark. Once our laughing fit died down I had said, "We should get home we could get sick." Rose gave me a look and I said, "Alright I will get sick. Now come on let's go." I splashed her one last time and got out.  We ringed out most of our clothes and started our walk back.

"Sorry about your phone I didn't know it was in your back pocket." I shrugged and shook my phone having more water come out of it. "Well I have no idea how I am going to get another one. I know I am not going to ask my dad for a new one. He working hard enough already." When we made it to my house I asked her, "You want to shower first?" She shrugged, "Sure why not." I ushered her down the hall, "Then get out of those clothes and give them to me so I can put them in the dryer. And you can use my clothes to change into once you're done." She started stripping and gave me the clothes. I started to close the bathroom door, "Now go I am going to go dry these. Enjoy the shower." I walked back down the hall to the garage. I threw her clothes in the dryer and walked back to my room and started grabbing my change of clothes. I waited until Rose was done before I went to take my own shower. After about 7 minutes I got out and changed into Rose's hoodie that I had taken freshman year and some short shorts. I walked out and saw Rose in her clothes that was in the dryer. She smiled and said, "Hey that's my hoodie. I gave that to you freshman year. I didn't think you still had it." I nodded and asked, "Why?  Did you think I would get rid of it?" She shrugged and walked over, "Maybe you got tired of it." I shook my head, "Nope." She then turned around looking at the door then back me. "Well I should go home. See you tomorrow Ellie." I smiled and waved at her "See you tomorrow Ro today was much needed."

She nodded and opened the door leaving. I smiled and went to the kitchen to eat something and noticed the time was only just going to turn 9. Dad won't be home until 11. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I poured myself some cereal and started eating in silence.  After I finished I took my phone out and tried the "put your phone in rice trick" for the night.  Once in there I walked to my room and climbed into bed seeing that I was already wearing my pjs and turned off the light.  I sighed and smiled to myself, "Much needed."  Rubbing my eyes and looked out my window and watched the moon until my eyes started to droop.  I ended up falling asleep soon after with a smile on my face.
