°10- Reunion°

"Hideyoshi Nagachika, but please, call me Hide."

Those words rang through your head.
Where have you heard them before?
Suddenly, it came to you.

"Kaneki!" You shouted out, not realising.
You quickly gasped and covered your mouth.
It was Hide! Kaneki's best friend!
Hide's brown orbs widened as he looked down at you.

"Kaneki...?" He whispered as you nodded. "How do you know him?"
You looked down at the floor before saying, "I, uh... Met him at work and now... I'm his girlfriend."
Hide looked shocked for a moment or two.
You looked up as his shocked face turned into a smile." I'm so glad he's with someone. You seem nice."

You thanked him and said, "I'm willing to protect him at all costs."
"Just one thing though." Hide spoke up.
"Yes?" You asked.
"If he wants to be left alone at any time... It's best to leave him alone." Hide said.

"Oh, Hide!" You said.
Hide gave you a questioning look.
"Do you know about Ken being a-"
"A ghoul? Yes. He didn't tell me, but it was quite obvious. I don't mind though, he's still my best friend. Also, considering you work at Anteiku, I'm guessing your a ghoul?" Hide wondered.

"Yes, I am a one eyed ghoul." You whispered, so no one could hear." But please, don't report me to the CCG. Please..."
"I work for the CCG." Hide said.
You gasped and shot your head up at him.
I'm going to die...! You thought and begun to panic.

"But don't worry, I'm not like that, I won't tell. After all, I want ghouls and humans to live in peace." Hide reassured you.
You sighed and nodded in relief." That... Will never happen."
"I know... But I can't help dreaming about it." Hide sighed softly.

You nodded and thought about how great, yet weird the world would be if ghouls and humans lived in peace.
"Anyway, I should probably get going now. It was nice to meet you, Y/n. And... Look after Kaneki for me." Hide said, about to walk off.

You gasped and swiftly grabbed his wrist. Hide hummed and turned around to look at you.
"K-kaneki..." You whispered, looking down at the floor.
"What about him?" Hide asked as you left go of his wrist.
"He... Wants to see you." You whispered.

Hide thought for a moment." But... I haven't seen him in ages..."
"That's the point. Come on!" You smiled, grabbing Hide's arm and pulling him out of the isle.
Hide sighed and have in as you dragged him all the way to the check out.

|Time skip|

After paying and putting everything in your bag, you and Hide made your way to Kaneki's apartment.
Whilst walking, you two got to know more about eachother.

"So, have you been a one eyed ghoul for your whole life, or did you have an organ transplant like Ken?" Hide asked as you two crossed a road.
Once on the pavement again, you whispered, "I have been a ghoul all my life. I inherited it from my mother, who was a one eyed ghoul herself. I have most of her genes."

"I see..." Hide muttered, staring ahead of him.
"How did you know Kaneki was a ghoul?" You asked.
Hide thought for a moment before replying, "Well, it all started when we went to collect some notes from Nishio Nishiki, a guy who used to work at our college-"

"Nishiki!?" You practically shouted.
Again, you covered your mouth and apologized.
"Haha. Yeah, do you know him?" Hide chuckled.
You nodded and said, "He works with me."

"I see, anyway... Let's just say, he beat me up, then I woke up at Anteiku. I heard that manager and Kaneki talking, and that's how I heard Kaneki was a ghoul. Yes, I was shocked, because I was so used to him being a human, but, no matter what... He'll always be my best friend." Hide smiled.

You smiled back. Hide seemed like such a good friend.

About half an hour later, you both arrived at Kaneki's apartment.
"Are you ready?" You asked, glancing over at Hide.
He gulped, but then smiled and nodded.
You smiled back and knocked on his door.

{Kaneki's POV}

I was just reading a book when I heard a knock at my door.
Hm? I wonder who that is. I thought, closing my book and placing it back on my bookshelf before walking over to the door.

I reached for the handle and pushed down, opening it.
Once I opened the door, I looked down to see my girlfriend, smiling up at me.
"Kaneki!" She smiled.
I smiled back and said, "Hello, Y/n- Chan. What brings you here?"

"Look." She said, turning around.
I furrowed my eyebrows in a confused way and looked up and over her.
Blinking, my grey orbs widened.
No... It couldn't be...

"H-hide...?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"Yo, Kaneki." Hide smiled.
He always used to say that to me...
I felt cold tears run down my face.

I was so happy! It was him, it was Hide!
I felt Y/n hug me.
Wiping away my tears, I smiled widely and kissed her forehead as she let go of me.

"C-come in..." I mumbled and stepped aside.
Y/n and Hide walked in as I closed the door.
"Would you both like coffee?" I asked as they sat down in my living room.
"Yeah, please." Hide smiled.
I nodded and turned to the love of my life. "And you, dear?"

I heard her adorable giggle as she replied, "Yes please, if that's okay."
"Of course it is." I said before walking into my kitchen to make some coffee.

Me and Hide... We have so much to catch up on?

Why did he come back to me?
