{Kaneki's POV}

Me and the Anteiku staff visited Y/n in hospital everyday.
I didn't know when she was going to wake up, and neither did the doctor, but I hoped it was soon.
I sighed and walked into her room, glancing at her sleeping face.

She looked like an angel.
Y/n had been asleep for about a week, and I was worried, because this has happened to her before.
I heard the door to her room open, so I turned around to see who it was.
I smiled at the sight of Y/n's friend.
Even though I briefly met her, I still know what she looked like.

"How is she?" She asked, walking towards Y/n.
"Still in a coma, I'm guessing." I replied, staring down at my loved one.
F/n grabbed Y/n's hands and sat down on the bed, burring her face into the blanket.
It was a few moments later I heard some quiet sobs.
"I'm sorry..." F/n mumbled, her head still on the bed.

I walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"
She didn't move, instead, she burst out crying.
I didn't really know what to do, so I decided to leave the two best friends alone for a bit.
I said where I was going to go and walked out of the room, giving Y/n and F/n some privacy.

{F/n's POV}

I held my best friends hands tightly in my own as I sobbed on her bed.
Why wasn't I there for her when she needed me the most?
What kind of friend abandons their friend?
"I'm sorry, Y/n..." I sobbed into the blanket.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me..."

I lifted up my head and stared at her face. She's grown so much...
I remember when we were little, and the fun we'd have...
I remember becoming her best friend. That was the best thing that happened to me...

[Flashback to childhood]

{F/n's POV}

I hummed to myself and made my way across the playground.
It was break, and everyone from our year were outside, playing.
I was new to this school, because I moved house, and I hadn't made a friend.

That's when I saw a girl sat on the grass, reading a book.
Raising an eyebrow, I walked over to the small and shy girl to see if she was okay.
She was usually by herself, and she was very shy.
I realized that she was in my class, but she was sat at the back, and I was sat at the front of the classroom.

I stopped beside her and hesitated, but said, "H-hello..."
She closed her book and put it down before slowly looking up at me.
"H-hi..." She whispered, her hair falling in front of her shy face.
I giggled and said, "Why aren't you playing? All you do is read."

She took a moment before replying, "Well... Reading interests me, and I don't like playing... Also, I have no people to play with..."
I laughed and said, "So... In other words, you have no friends?"
She sighed and nodded.
"Well, today's your lucky day!" I beamed, crouching down on the grass and holding out my hand towards her.

I was always the type of person to joke around and make people happy, but she didn't even attempt to put a smile on her face.
"F/n, nice to meet you!" I greeted.
That's when she actually smiled and slowly reached out for my hand.
"Y-y/n..." She whispered, grasping my hand.
I shook it and smiled, "I'm new here, and haven't made any friends, so... Would you like to be my friend?"

She smiled back and replied, "Yes please."
And that's where it all started...

[End of flashback]

"Oh, Y/n... Wake up." I said, tears rolling down my cheeks.
