twenty one ➻〝necklace〞

(this scene takes place before mark and donghyuck met in their dreams)

❝let me go!❞ mark spat at the superior devil that's right in front of him, smiling like a maniac.

jaehyun shook his head and frowned annoyingly. ❝look at you, so pitiful.❞

mark just glared at the older and hang his head low. ❝what do you want?❞ the boy said while gritting his teeth.

jaehyun then cheerfully clapped. ❝simple! show me my son.❞ he said and grabbed hold of mark's sun necklace.

mark shook his body as an attempt to get rid of the older's dirty hand on his necklace. ❝you can have anything but not my donghyuck!❞

❝well then, looks like i'll just get my son by force.❞

mark shot his head up and locked eyes with the elder, sending dagger eyes at jaehyun.

❝s-show me my donghyuck.❞ mark whispered quietly and his necklace started to glow. jaehyun can't hold back his smile as the necklace started glowing.

(the necklace works like a projector but you don't need those whiteboard or white paper thingy majiggy. i don't know what you call 'em)

once the image was shown, jaehyun took a step near the image and tried to touch it but his hand just went through. and mark could only roll his eyes as how dumb the elder.

jaehyun was crying. he's crying tears of joy to be exact and it annoyed mark so much.

the young boy took a quick glance of his sleeping beauty, donghyuck, on the bed before whispering into the necklace to stop showing the precious sleeping angel.

and it surely made jaehyun mad. ❝what did you do?!❞

mark raised a brow at the elder and shrugged. he's done dealing with this guy's shits.

but nonetheless, he's thankful for having jaehyun in his life. because without the older, he still probably gets bullied by the other devils of his age because he was 'homeless'.

he remember when jaehyun took him in. he was only seven years old (this is his human age, i'm too lazy to compute his devil age sowwy) that time when he met jaehyun. the older treated him like his own son. the older spoiled him nonstop and made sure that anyone who tries to bully him gets a punishment. they'll get locked up in a cell for a week with no food to eat nor water to drink. some died and became ashes before they could even get out from the cell while some survives but goes out looking like a zombie. mark thought that it was too brutal but jaehyun reassured him that it wasn't and so, being the dumb kid he was back then, believed what the older said.

and when he turned thirteen, he was tasked to become a human's devil. and there, he met his love of his life, lee donghyuck.

it wasn't the typical love at first sight. they started as enemies but the human that they're looking after made them friends and you how some close friends relationship can lead too.

jaehyun knew about him being friends with donghyuck. he would even always tell him about the things he admire from the younger whenever he goes to jaehyun to report. and jaehyun didn't had a say about it, he let the boy be friends with an angel even if it's against the rules.

and the reason behind it was, once mark gets close enough with his son, he'd order the young devil to bring donghyuck with him the next time he reports.

but the moment he told mark to bring donghyuck to their realm, mark didn't listen and never went back to jaehyun to report and stayed on earth.

and one day, a devil came to jaehyun and told him about mark loving an angel and the boy exactly knew who the angel is. he then sent his men to take mark and once his men got the young devil back to their realm, he directly sent him to the deepest chamber in hell.

he doesn't want mark for his son. donghyuck deserves better than a guy like mark.

and in the name of love, mark did everything to get out from that chamber to be with his donghyuck. it took him almost a year to get out from there. it was like a maze, full of deadly creatures and things. he was scared but fought back the fear and kept encouraging himself that he needs to get out of there if he ever wants to see his donghyuck again.

but it looks like he was too late.

the moment he got out from that chamber, the men guarding by the entrance quickly captured him and brought him to jaehyun.

and the older told him that donghyuck had his wings cut and lost all of his memories.

he was then locked up in a cell for almost a week. but jaehyun came and told him that he's giving him another chance and be haechan's devil. he was confused on why but jaehyun told him that donghyuck is inside the human's body.

he was excited── wait no, screw that.

he was eager. he was eager to meet his donghyuck, even if the younger can't remember him, it's enough.

but jaehyun made a deal with him while he was daydreaming about on how he will introduce himself to his donghyuck after all those years (i'm using the angel and devil year system here) of being away from him.

a deal which he didn't let it get processed in his mind and just quickly agreed.

the deal was about: if he ever gets to be haechan's devil then he is the boy's devil and nothing else. he can't let the younger fall in love with him and he can't tell him on who he really is.

but once jaehyun repeated the deal after asking him to do so, he regretted everything.

❝commander ji! take him to the chamber's gate. i'll follow after.❞ jaehyun shouted and a boy whom he clearly is familiar with, removed the chains around his body.

❝hansol hyung, you got to help me escape from jaehyun hyung.❞ he whispered while the boy wrapped his arms around his waist to support him as he was feeling weak.

hansol then smiled sadly. ❝i want to help you, really, but you know how jaehyun can be. i'm sorry minhyung.❞

❝i understand.❞ mark nodded. he then took off his necklace and stared at it.

for the last time, he wants to see donghyuck. ❝show me... my love.❞ he whispered into the necklace and it glowed and showed the image of donghyuck, still sleeping peacefully on the soft mattress.

mark and hansol had already arrived at the chamber's entrance awhile ago. ❝we still have twenty minutes before jaehyun gets here so take your time admiring your sun.❞ the older chuckled as he carefully sat mark on the ground.

mark just nodded and continued to admire the beautiful angel that's peacefully sleeping on the bed. donghyuck had his wings out and spread on the bed. his hair brushing against his closed eyes.

and as mark admire the image of donghyuck, he slowly drifted off to sleep and the image slowly fading.

once he was completely asleep and is off to dreamland, his necklace started glowing and then disappeared right after.

❝i'll forever love you and i'll miss you hyuckie.❞
