I contemplated during my shower how I was going to tell Omar that he had to leave without sounding like I was kicking him out. Especially because I had practically begged him to stay.
I probably sound like the worst person in the world, but what would you do if you had this chance with the one person you'd always dreamed of having?
I heard a knock on the door, breaking me out of my thinking state.
"Are you ok?" I heard Omar ask from the other side of the door. "You've been in there for a while."
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm actually about to get out now" I said shutting the water off. I truthfully don't know how long I'd been in here. After I had washed up, I kind of just let my thoughts consume me.
I grabbed my towel off of the back of the door, tying it around my waist before brushing my teeth and washing my face.
I followed suit with the rest of my bathroom routine before texting Aaron, asking him to call me and say that it was an emergency so that I could have a valid reason for asking Omar to leave.
Almost instantly, my phone began ringing.
"Hello?" I said in a whisper.
"Why are you whispering? What's going on?"
"I need you to pretend that there's an emergency so I can get Omar to leave" I said, realizing how selfish and mean that was after saying it out loud.
"Why do you actually want him to leave?" he asked, sousing curious.
I hesitated before telling him the actual reason why. One thing about Aaron was that he was the friend that always wanted the best of me. He never sided with any of my stupid decisions which I appreciated for the most part, but sometimes it was annoying and I needed him to be the friend who encouraged me to do what made me happy and be supportive rather than judgemental of it, no matter how dumb it may have been.
"AJ wants to come talk to me and he said he'd be here in 45 minutes which is now about 25 and I'm running out of time and I need you to just do this favor for me please" I said in one breath.
I could hear him mumble something on his breath before he spoke. "No, I'm sorry, but I won't."
"Why?" I said a little too loud, looking toward the door as if I could see Omar through it to see if he noticed. "You know what. Never mind." I ended that call after that.
Time for Plan B.
I exited the bathroom and walked in the room to see Omar laying on the bed comfortable which made me feel even worse about telling him that he was gonna have to leave.
"Who was that you were talking to?" Think fast Jalen.
"My dad" I said sounding as sad as I could. "He wants to come get me and spend the day with me."
"Oh. That's cool, I understand. You probably see me more than you see him anyways" he said with a comforting and reassuring smile.
I felt bad for lying to him, but I felt good that he was understanding, making this easier than I thought it'd be.
"He said he'd be here in like 15 minutes since he doesn't live too far" I continued.
"Oh aigh" he said lifting himself off of the bed. "Imma get out of your hairs. This was fun though" he said, placing a small kiss on my forehead before changing back into the clothes he had came in and heading out with me following behind.
"Text me when you get home" I said as I gave him one final hug before he left out of the front door.
I watched as he got in his car and waited for him to pull of before flashing one final smile and making my way back upstairs to get ready.
