I laid up with AJ, explaining everything that had just happened in my imagination...or maybe it actually happened...I really didn't know.
It all felt so real, but once it was over, it was almost as if it had never happened.
Oddly enough, I felt completely comfortable telling AJ all of this and he didn't act weird about it either. He actually found it very amusing.
"This isn't funny!" I snapped, followed by a little laughter of my own. It actually was kind of funny when you thought about it.
"Jalen, please. That kid wouldn't hurt a fly." He continued to laugh hysterically as I watched unamused.
"You're right. Maybe I am crazy. But did you see his new look?"
"Yeah. The kid wants to look just like me. It's weird. He's probably just jealous that I have you now and he doesn't and it's probably just a lot on you right now, but don't worry about it. I'm all you need and if anyone ever does try to hurt you, I'm your guy to call on."
It was cute that he wanted to protect me, but considering that Omar had gotten the best of him, not once, but twice, I took the last part with a grain of salt. It wasn't like I completely needed him though. I was somewhat capable of taking care of myself.
He sent me a reassuring smile and all I could do was return it. I didn't have much to say and he was right; it was a lot on me.
Having ditched Omar to chill with AJ only for Omar to find out and be mad and me trying to make amends with Omar just for AJ to interfere yet again leaving us no choice but to spend more time I'm together and Omar changing his appearance in attempt to win me back.
It was a lot to think about it, but I couldn't deny that I had AJ, the guy of my dreams, in front of me. Right here. Right now. And wasn't nothing going to distract me from that.
Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing. I scanned my hand around the bed to see where it was, eventually running across it.
I looked at the screen, seeing that it was an unsaved number. I decided not to answer it because I usually never answer unsaved numbers unless I'm expecting a call.
I looked over, seeing AJ engulfed in his phone.
"Who was that?" he asked, eyes still glued to his phone.
"Not sure. It was an unsaved number."
"Oh."
I sat there in silence for a moment, waiting for him to finish whatever he was doing because it must have been important.
After waiting impatiently for a few moments, I snatched his phone from his hand.
"What's so important that has all of your attention?" I asked looking down at the phone screen.
"What the fuck bae?! You made me die in Call of Duty."
I realized that he was indeed playing Call of Duty. This must have been new because I didn't ever know they had this app for the phones.
"I'm sorry" I replied with a pouted lip. "I just wanted your attention."
"Cmon now baby. You know I ain't going nowhere no time soon. We got all weekend."
Boy did AJ have a mouthpiece on him. There was rarely ever a time where something he said didn't have me speechless or smiling ear to ear. Every sentence was so smooth and seemed so thought out, it was almost dangerous.
He was right too. I had completely forgotten that it was Friday. Being suspended had thrown off the days of the week in my head.
"Let's watch a movie" I suggested, snapping myself out of my trance.
