I stared at him in disbelief. No way was I going to school and not even if they paid me.

Apparently they didn't take no for an answer. So I had to go to a school called 'Calabria Prep.' It was like a typical school with typical students. The walls were made out of terra cotta -I learned from Makayla- and the floors were marble or granite (I always forget). So it was basically a pretty good school.

If you ask me, the best part was probably the cafeteria food because it didn't make me want to barf every minute. They served a hamburger with cheese - yum!- and some healthy stuff too. They had a vending machine in the room too but with sweets and stuff.

"Hey Scarlet!" Caitlyn yelled from across the room. I turned to look at her and she ushered me to come over there. I nodded and walked toward them.

Caitlyn was one of the students in my homeroom (2M) and she was the most friendliest. She walked up to me and just said, "Lets be friends." I didn't know what to say so I said yes. Besides, it didn't sound like a question so it was more like a command.

We talked so much that Mr. O' Steely (Our homeroom teacher) had to make us be quiet by threatening to duck tape our mouths. I doubt he even would if he got the permission to.

As I walked toward her table, Ty stopped me by grabbing my arm. "What?" I asked. He said nothing and just kept staring at me.

"Your friends with Caitlyn," he mumbled. It wasn't a question I'm sure because it sounded like a statement. "So?" I asked. Still nothing.

Finally after what seemed like eternity, he said, "Be careful. She has bad friends." I stared at him blankly. The stare was supposed to mean why do you care but it came out as I never met them yet. Which wasn't a lie but I didn't want Ty to think he could boss me around.

Before I could tell him off, he let go of my arm and left. I continued to walk to Caitlyn and the others.

They greeted me well and I didn't see what Ty was worried about. But then I noticed one of them staring at me like he wanted to eat me. I just ignored it. It meant nothing... right?

I learned some of their names and I memorized the guy who stared at me very well. His name was Matthew O' Cleary. I didn't know why but his name sounded very familiar.

The rest of the group were pretty nice except for the constant stares from some of them.

I drove home with Ty on that first day. He drove a blue Ferrari I think. I was never good with cars.

"How was your first day of school?" he asked me like I was a child and he was my mother. But instead of coming up with a smart comeback I said, "Okay I guess."

He just nodded like he heard that all the time. I saw he pursed his lips like he was hiding something, something important. "Spit it out," I said. He looked confused. "Spit what out?" he asked completely confused.

"Your hiding something," I replied. "Say it." He sighed like I caught him. "Okay fine," he managed to say. "Wait, I'll tell you later." I stared at him in disbelief. No way was I waiting till he could forget about the whole thing.

I looked around. It turns out we were at the hospital my dad was in. "What are we doing here?" I asked. Ty got out of the car and opened my door. I didn't want to argue so I went in. I also wanted to see my dad.

We walked over to my dad's room and I saw he was awake. I was so happy I ran toward him and hugged him while saying, "Dad!" I bet I sounded like a three-year-old.

Ty just stood there against the doorway staring at us. "Hi, Scarlet," my dad said. He didn't seem so happy to see me. I stared at him after the hug.

"What?" I asked. My dad went silent and so did Ty. I stared at both of them. They both were hiding something. "What?" I asked a little too loud. My dad still wouldn't talk.

"Scarlet...." Ty trailed off. I looked at him pleading tell me through my eyes. He sighed. "Your dad has... cancer." It took all the strength I had not to cry.

"The stage one kind right? Not the bad one," I said cracking on every word. Ty shifted from one foot to the other. "Tell me!" I yelled. I know I sounded like I little girl but I didn't care.

"Honey I have cancer... stage four," my dad mumbled but I heard it. I heard every single word and then I got down on my knees and cried. I cried like a baby but worse.

Ty went toward me and rubbed my back. I heard my father silently say thank you to Ty but I sat there and cried out until I couldn't anymore. I lost my mother now my father? It wasn't fair. Not one bit.
