Chapter 5- First Day, First Crush

Scorpious' POV:

I wake up to the sound of something hitting the window. I look around, but realize I'm the only one awake yet. I walk towards the window and find Guardian with a letter. I take it from him and close the window just as he begins to fly towards the astronomy tower. As I make my way back to bed, I find my hands shaking, anxious to see what the letter contains. 

I barely manage to open it and when I do, I immediately recognize my father's handwriting. I suddenly feel cold and weak, hopeless even and I haven't even read the letter yet. I exhale, might as well get it over it:

Dearest Son,

I can not express how glad I am you ended up in Gryffindor. Your mother and I are tremendously proud of you. It's about time a Malfoy did something good for the wizard race. I've made terrible mistakes throughout my life and I'm sure Gryffindor will help you avoid them.

I wish you all the best and I hope to see you wearing your Gryffindor ropes when I pick you up from school on Christmas Eve.

My eyes twinkle as I neatly fold the letter. I feel like crying out loud. I was no longer an outcast. My family's actually proud of me! They even wish me luck! 

I begin getting dressed while Dilan, John and Al start to wake up. I can't help but smile at them like an idiot. I even race Al to the great hall.

When we get there, I look around until I see Rose waving at me, signalling for us to sit down next to her and two other girls. I nearly sprint towards her. She looks beautiful this morning, with her hair a hundred different types of orange and her eyes a sea like blue. I must've been staring at her, because I abruptly hear Albus chuckle beside me. However, when I look around I see Dilan staring at a red headed girl sitting beside Rose.

"Where are my manners!"- she exclaims. "I'm Veronica, Veronica Clifford. Muggle-born and proud"

"I'm Dilan and these are my friends John, Albus and Scorpious"- he says, grinning at her. They clearly have something going on. We sit down and enjoy a breakfast full of introductions and getting to know each other. Turns out Veronica's brother is in some muggle band called 5 seconds of summer and Dilan is apparently obsessed with them. The dark haired girl chatting with Al happens to be professor Longbottom's daugter. And I find myslef talking to a beautiful girl: Rose. Oh boy, I think I like her.

Al's POV:

It's great to see Scorpious looking so happy. That letter he got this morning really lifted up his spirits. But I can't help but laugh at the way he's looking at Rose, and the way she looks at him. It's quite cute and Carmen and I both agree they would make a great couple. It's great to have Carmen back. She has always been my best friend and I've really missed her and her cheerful laughs.

We finish our breakfast and head of to our first lesson, Herbology. It seems like all the 1st years are in one class so I'm not surprised to find members from the four houses waiting for the lesson to begin. Professor Longbottom comes into the room and makes us introduce oursleves. I find myself daydreaming until a cute girl stands up to introduce herself. She's short, with long curly hair and a beautiful smile. Her name's Leire and all I can think about is how much I want to talk to her. I realize I probably look like Scorpious when he tries to flirt with Rose but I can't help it. She's too gorgeous to stop admiring. Her reavenclaw robes show her genious side. She sits down and a really tall hufflepuff boy with short curly hair stands up. I feel Carmen shift in her sit, clearly interested in this guy callled Rhys Jones. I beam at Professor Longbottom, wondering what he thinks of his daughter's attitude towards this boy. He seems oblivious to the flirting going on between them, so I decide to goggle at Leire. She really IS beautiful. She turns around and looks at me like I'm some kind of weirdo. I can feel myslef slowly turning red. I try and concentrate on the presentations, ocassionally glancing at her. God, I'm such a stalker!

Rose's POV:

I'm really trying to be nice to him, I really am. But I just can't ignore the fact that he belongs to a long line of murderers and the fact that my dad' s greatest enemy is his dad. Or the fact that there's something dark about him. It's great to see him smile and I wish I could really express how I really feel. I really wish I could hang out, chat and laugh with him. Go on holiday together, or even kiss his cheek. Cause he's cute. Damn, he's hot, and he seems to like me but I can't. I can't develop a relationship with someone when there are so many boundaries between us. Frustrated, I try and concentrate on the introductions.

A cheeky slyhtering presents himself as Alex. The twinkle in his eyes scare me a little, but he seems pretty smart and funny. A short blond-haired girl introduces herself as Bernie. She seems pretty carefree and too kind to be a slyhterin. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get to know her. Two other hufflepuffs start off by saying they're twins and that we can call them Tanvi and Mani. They simontaniously sit down and immediately another slytherin named Yuki introduces herself. She seems to have an asian background. The last person to introduce herself is a tall ravenclaw girl named Mary who's sitting next to Leire, Al's new obsession. 

When everyone is sitting down, Professor introduces himself and asigns us a partner. Al's with Tanvi, Veronica's with Dilan, Carmen and Rhys are working together, Tris's stuck with Scorpious, Mani and Yuki are partners, John and Leire have been asigned to work together, Mary's with some an Irish kid named Tom and I'm left with Alex. The last thing I need is to deal with an arrogant Slyhtherin. I sigh, pick up my books and sit down next to him, ready to learn all about Mandrakes.
