Mary's POV:
I sat down at the Ravenclaw table, hoping nobody would look at me. Everyone was going home for the holidays... everyone except me. They'd all been going on about their plans and I just couldn't help feeling jealous. Even Leire was leaving, and with none other than Albus. She was determined to teach him how to ski and they'd booked some rooms in a ski resort.
I was glad to see her happy again, is just... part of me wanted her to be happy with Al, but part of me just couldn't get used to the idea of seeing her with the boy of my dreams...
I sighted... They weren't even dating yet, but I knew they'd end up together, and I might as well get used to the idea of them being a 'thing'.
I got up up from the Ravenclaw table and went looking for Leire. After all, she was my best friend, and I was sad to see her leave, even if it was only for a few weeks.
*Few hours later (Al and Leire had left, along with most of the other 1st year students*
Ughh, I was so bored. I missed my curly friend already...
Sulking, I made my way to the library, the only place I could find something to entertain myself with.
I looked around, hoping I'd find a familiar face. I could see Carmen, Veronica and Bernie chatting in a corner, checking some guy out. I thought about joining them when something, or I should say someone, caught my eye. A tallish, dark haired girl with nerdy glasses was reading in a corner. Though I couldn't see much of her face, I quickly realised she was from Gryffindor. How strange... I'd never seen her in my life but she was clearly in my year.
I found myself getting closer, curiosity taking control of my senses. Suddenly, she looked up from her book and I discovered a pair of piercing, black eyes staring at me. After looking at me for a while, she went back to reading her novel, clearly amused by something.
I sat down beside her and introduced myself.
'Hi, I'm Mary, I believe we haven't met?'
'The name's Sherlock, and no we haven't met. I'm new'
Interesting... I didn't think there'd be any new kids.
An awkward silence followed this brief conversation, and she was about to go back to her reading when I heard a male voice behind me:
'Shelly, where were you? I've been looking all over for you!'
'Relax Liam, I'm ok, and I know you weren't looking for me, I saw you flirting with those girls over there'
He grunted.
I turned around and found myself staring at a young, curly haired boy wearing a Ravenclaw uniform. He smiled at me and said:
'Oh, god, sorry, didn't notice you there. I'm Liam, Shelly's twin brother'
'Nice to meet you, I'm Mary'
He looked at me for a while, then, smiling, he turned around and left,
I must admit, he was quite attractive. Those hazel eyes, that charming smile...I couldn't help feeling he was the type of guy Leire would fall for. Smart and attractive. I closed my eyes, picturing her smiling at him, staring at his gorgeous eyes. The image was soon replaced by a pair of beautiful green eyes. Al...
A group of female voices snapped me out of my day dreaming.
'I'm sorry, we couldn't help but overhear. I'm Carmen, she's Veronica and the short, blond...
'I'm not that short'- cried Bernie
Veronica chuckled.
'Anyway, she's Bernie'- said Carmen.
Sherlock closed her book and stood up.
'Well, I'm Sherlock. Yes, Sherlock is a girl's name'- she said, looking at the query looks they gave her.
'It's great to meet you'- said Veronica.
She smiled, and I couldn't help but find something dark about her smile. I sensed something was going on with her, and I could see Carmen noticed too.
I took the whole picture in. We were standing in a circle, and I found myself looking at the girls around me. There was something special about them, something that could quite easily be out of place. But there was something beautiful about the way we stood around each other. Don't get me wrong, I'd met most of them before, but I felt like I had discovered something new, something powerful about them all. It was as if we had known each other for a long time, as if we hadn't just met.
I smiled. Looking around me, I saw a bunch of small, messed up teenagers trying to find their place in this magical world. And I finally fit in.
3rd Person POV:
That night, lying awake in their dorms, they didn't cry into the darkness. They didn't fall asleep with tears streaming down their faces. Instead, they fell asleep with a smile plastered on their lips, thinking things might turn out to be alright in the end, thinking they'd finally found the place where they belonged.
Little did they know what the five of them would become.
Little did they know what they'd do.
Little did they know how strong they would turn out to be.
Little did they know how their friendship would save their lives.
All they new was things were never going to be the same. They'd all felt that strong feeling, bonding them together like a chemical reaction. There was something going on, something that was bigger and greater than them. They new things were about to change, but, sometimes, everyone needs a little change. Sometimes, change isn't all that bad. Sometimes, change is simply not what you expected. But that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just hard. It's hard to say goodbye, it's hard not to look back, it's hard to start again.
Change means going on an adventure. And as for them, they were about to embark onto their greatest adventure... The adventure of the Marauders.
