Zayd Pov
Val filled my thoughts, she was all I could think about since she left. I need to let loose and forget about her. Although, I don't see that happening considering I'm laying on a hospital bed. I rang for the doctor, and he comes in 5 minutes later.
"When will I be discharged."
"Tomorrow morning, sir."
"Just bring me the discharge papers." I say in a harsh voice, getting up from the hospital bed and stand. "See? I'm fine."
After a few minutes of hesitation, he leaves the room and returns with a few papers to sign.
Signing the paper, I pick up the clothes that Jaxxon had left for me on a chair. Putting them on, I grab my phone and leave the hospital. I reach into my backpocket to get my car keys.
I freeze, wait a second. My car is gone. Yeah, the minute it was wrapped around a tree. My subconscious replies, rolling my eyes. I call an uber, leaning against the cold brick wall.
I wonder what Val is doing right now. Stop it, Zayd. You broke up with her, stop thinking about her. You don't deserve her."You don't deserve her, you don't deser-"
The uber car honks, the driver says "Are you gonna get in, or stay out in the cold whispering nonsense?"
Glaring at her, "I was not whispering nonsense."
"Yes, you were."
"No, I wasn't."
"Yes, you were."
"No, I wasn-, do you want a 1 star review?"
"Please, I'd love your review on my uber driving. It'd be a pleasure." The woman says blandly, rolling her eyes.
"Sarcastic-" I begin to mutter but get cut off.
"Name me that, and you can hitchhike the highway I don't care that you're my customer." She threatens, shooting me a venomous look.
Raising my hands up, "Alright, alright." I grumble. As traffic appears, we stay stuck in an awkward silence. Looking down, I see my phone background which was set on a picture of Val. She was asleep at that time, hair splattered around the pillow with a smile tugged on her lips. I wonder what she was dreaming about. Well, it definitely isn't about you now. My subconscious reminds, the smile on my face falls.
The driver notices, "Girl trouble?"
"No boy trouble." I respond, rolling my eyes.
"Oh well-"
"I was kidding." I deadpan interrupting her.
Rolling her eyes, "No wonder you have girl trouble."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard what I said, and I'll say it again. No. Wonder. You. Have. Girl. Trouble." She repeats slowly.Rolling my eyes, "I heard what you said, I'm asking how you would know if I had girl trouble."
"You've been smiling at your phone for the past 10 minutes."
I sigh, "That could mean anything."
"It could, but it could also mean that you're hurting. That you did something wrong, and regret it badly."
Looking up immediately, I watch her closely. Is this one of James tricks, he must've gotten someone to spy on me-. My thoughts get cut when she speaks again.
"Whoever the girl is, I'm sure-"
"Yeah, whatever I don't need your pity." I cut in harshly.
"Yes, yes you do. If you keep avoiding your emotions, instead of inviting them in. They'll take a hold of you, leaving you stranded alone in your misery. Whoever the girl is, it's best if you apologize on what you did. Otherwise, you'll be a lonely miserable 30 year old driving uber giving advice to kids like you. Trust me, you don't want to end up like this." She says, her eyes cut off to the rearview.
