Jewel.

Mckayla was standing on her 2 step stool looking in the bathroom mirror as I combed through her curly hair. I pinned the front back with a bobby pin to keep her hair out her face.

"Are you nervous sweetie?" I massaged some pink moisturizer hair lotion in Kayla's hair.

"Nope, I just don't want to go." Kayla pouted.

"I promise you're going to love it baby. Remember what mommy say, how are you going to introduce yourself?" I tested her.

"Hi everyone I'm Mckayla Milani Alsina." She cheesed.

I tickled her. "Noo you don't have to say your whole government name girl."

Mckayla squirmed as she jumped off the 2 step stool.

"Let's go wake up daddy." Mckayla ran towards the room.

I don't know how this girl can climb on top of our King sized bed by herself. Mckayla jumped up and down on the bed over top of August.

"Wake up daddy, wake up." She sung.

I stood in the door way waiting for August to get up. August grabbed Mckayla legs making her fall down next to him. Mckayla died of laughter as she fell.

"Rise and shine sleepy head." I smirked.

August looked towards the doorway and smiled. "What time is it?" He asked in a raspy voice.

"Time for you to get dressed so we can drop our preschooler off."

"Kayla let's go eat breakfast while your daddy get dressed." I suggested.

Mckayla and I walked downstairs to the kitchen. "I want oatmeal mommy." Mckayla said as she climbed in the chair.

I nodded my head as I poured a cup of water and heated it in the microwave. After the microwave went off I poured one pack of oatmeal in the bowl. Then I added a little of sugar and milk to the oatmeal as I stirred the ingredients together.

"Here baby." I handed the bowl too Mckayla.

"You want milk or apple juice?" I asked.

"I want apple juice! please."

I poured Kayla a half of cup of apple juice.

"Thank you mommy." Mckayla smiled as she began to eat her oatmeal.

20 minutes later.

August came downstairs fully dressed. I'm guessing today one of them chill days for him since he's dressed in grey sweats, a white tank top, and his adidas.

"Babe you're going to burn up in them sweats. You know how Cali weather is."

Aug shrugged his shoulders. "I'll be good."

"Y'all ready?" Aug asked as he grabbed an apple out of the fruit dish, rinsed it off, and bit into it.

Mckayla and I nodded our heads as we all walked out towards the car.

Mckayla walked between August and I as we held her hand.

"Can you guys stay with me?" Kayla asked as we stopped in front of her classroom.

I nervously bit my bottom lip as Aug ran his hand down his face. "Naw baby girl, but we will be here to come get you." Aug said.

Kayla frowned her face as the teacher opened the door with a big ass grin on her face. I can tell she loves her job, or either she's good at pretending she likes it.

"Well hello there, I'm Ms. Davis."

Mckayla hid behind August and I. August gently pulled her in front of us.

"This right here is Mckayla, and we're her parents." I smiled as I shook Ms. Davis hand.

"Nice to meet you all, Mckayla everyone is excited to meet you. Are you willing to introduce yourself to the class?" Ms. Davis asked.

Mckayla shyly nodded her head. "Don't forget what mommy told you." I kissed her forehead.

August kneeled down and kissed Kayla's cheek. "Behave yourself lil mama, daddy loves you aight?"

"I love you too daddy."

August and I went back home to get dressed for work. Well I had to get dressed for work, August has the day off. After I had Mckayla and Mckenzie I ended up working for a talent agency, but since we moved to Cali I transferred to another agency called Agency for the Performing Arts. I'm nervous as hell since this is my first day, I don't know what to expect.

I hugged August and pecked his lips before I left out. "Make sure you text me and tell me about Kayla's first day."

Aug nodded his head. "I got'chu...goodluck tho."

I smiled. "Thanks babe."

At work.

I strutted into the building like it was nothing. I refuse to show anyone that I'm nervous.

"Goodmorning." I spoked to everyone.

"Goodmorning, you must be Ms. Jones."

I turned around to see a familar face. I couldn't quite picture where I seen this lady before, but I know i've seen her before.

"Yes, and you are?"

"Jayla." She smiled.

"You're Omari's ex wife right?"

I nodded my head and gave her a confused look. How do this lady know I'm Omari's ex wife? Speaking of Omari I haven't talked to him nor seen him in three whole years.

"Um yes, how do you know Omari?"

Jayla let out a chuckle. "You don't remember me? I'm Omari's girlfriend. I showed up at your doorstep to tell you about the affair your husband...excuse me ex husband was having with me."

I gave 'Jayla' an aggravated look. "I thought you said your name was Gabrielle." I furrowed an eyebrow and folded my arms.

"Gabrielle is my middle name, I go by Gabrielle. Jayla is my first name though." She ran her fingers through her straight hair.

"What are you even doing out here anyways?" I asked. To be honest I'm getting annoyed.

"You haven't heard? Omari got a better job offer out here, so we recently moved out here." She smiled.

I covered my face. I am beyond angry right now. The point of August and I moving to Cali was to leave our past in NOLA, so we can start fresh in Cali. How the hell did the past follow us?

I quickly turned on my heels and walked towards the time clock to punch in.

"Jewel what's wrong?" Jayla asked.

I completely ignored her. This is unbelievable.
