Jewel

I slowly awakened I heard nothing but machines beeping and talking. I looked over to the left to see my mom and the right side August was there. I rubbed my eyes multiple times, I have to be dreaming August is on tour!

"This is all a dream right? Where am I?" I asked.

My mom held my hand tight as she wiped her face with a tissue.

"Your in the hospital Hun, you passed out." My mom kissed my cheek.

"Please tell me it's not true mom! Please it can't be, I didn't even get to say goodbye and I never would have because I was so stubborn and selfish. I didn't care about her feelings only mines! I probably caused her death didnt i?" I cried.

My mom shook her head. "Oh god no baby calm down. I suggest you to open that letter, please don't put this on yourself you had nothing to do with her death and you know that."

August kissed my cheek. "You good baby gir'? You know I ain't the romantic type but I does this shit fa' you & only you... Besides my mama." He handed me a beautiful boutique of red roses.

I shook my head no. "How did you get here babe?" I wiped the tears that were continuously  falling from my eyes.

Aug chuckled. "How else you think baby? I flew out'chea. Once I got that phone call that you blacked out, I took the earliest flight."

I slowly got up it just hit me that the girls aren't here. "Oh my gosh where's my babies?" I panicked.

"Jewel calm down, they are fine Ciara has them." My mom reassured me.

I took a deep breath. "Babe how long are you here to?" I asked, to be honest I don't want him to go back.

Aug stroked his beard. "Uh I'm leaving Monday morning, I'll be back for the funeral tho. Ya'kno I gotta be there fa my baby." He kissed my forehead. Lord knows how bad I missed my man.

I turned my attention towards the door as we all heard a knock. A tall caramel complexion guy walked in with a clipboard.

"Jewel your awake, how are you feeling?" He smiled. "I'm dr. Hamilton." He held his hand out for me to shake.

"I'm feeling okay." I weakly smiled.

"I was hoping for a better answer." He joked. "I'm just going to ask a few questions, and you'll be out of here in no time alright?"

I nodded my head.

"Before you fainted do you remember how you felt? What were your symptoms?"

I rubbed my head as I thought about how I felt before I passed out. "I felt dizzy, my heart was beating fast, and I felt hot."

Dr. Hamilton wrote down notes as I spoke. "Do you have a history of panic attacks or anything?"

I shook my head no. The last time I passed out is when I was pregnant with the twins going through stress.

"Do you have any of those symptoms now?"

I shook my head no. "I feel Better now. I can't change the fact that my grandmother is gone." I began to cry again.

August rubbed my back while my mom caressed my hand.

"Im so sorry for your lost Jewel." Dr. Hamilton sincerely said as he handed me some tissues.

"I'm going to go get your discharge papers prepared. I am going to write you a doctors note, just in case you want to take a couple of days off from work. If your symptoms come back, I suggest you to go see your primary care doctor. Okay jewel?" He patted my shoulder.
