Chapter 29

Jewel

After the funeral August & I stopped at Chandra's to pick up Kayla & Kenzie. I didn't want to go to the burial, it'll be to much. I already zapped out when they closed the casket, it's the worst part. I'll officially never see my grandmother again and knowing that we ended on bad terms is what hurts the most.

"Hey Jewel, how are you feeling?" Chandra pulled me into a hug.

"I'm okay Chandra, thanks." I hugged her back.

"I am truly sorry for your lost honey, I know your pain. I'll never get over losing Mel. That was my heart, and he'll always be."

I gave Chandra a weak smile. Chandra is a wonderful mother to her three little girls, and I know Mel is proud of her. I feel really bad she has to raise her girls by herself even though she has help from Mama Sheila, Aug, & his bro's. I don't know what I'd do if I lost aug, I don't even wanna think about that happening.

August hugged Chandra and went upstairs to get the girls, knowing Aug he probably be up there for a minute fooling with his nieces. I actually don't mind since he barely get to see them anymore. I stayed downstairs and chatted with Chandra until Aug came down with the girls.

"Thanks For watching the girls Chandra, I really appreciate it." I hugged her.

"Oh no problem Jewel, they are no trouble at all."

"Girls what yall say to aunt Cha?" Aug picked them both up.

"Thank you Aunt Cha." The girls said in unison.

"You both are very welcome. Yall welcome to stay with me anytime." She kissed them both goodbye.

After we left Chandra's we headed to my moms house for the repass. I honestly don't feel like being bothered with I just want to eat and ball into a knot and cry. I haven't been this sad since I lost my grandfather. I lost my grandfather from cancer, and my grandmother death is still unknown. I don't understand what's taking so long for the autopsy results to come back. I find it very strange, but whatever.

August and I walked into the house with the kids, we were all greeted with hugs and kisses from my family.

"Oh those girls are so beautiful." My aunt said pulling the girls into a hug.

"Girls this is your aunt Tiffany." I introduced them.

McKenzie and McKayla both smiled as they hugged Aunt Tiffany. 

"I'm going to use the bathroom, I'll fix your plate when I come back." I whispered to August.

August nodded his head as he went to socialize with my family. I ran up the steps to use the bathroom. A brown skinned guy about the same complexion walked out the bathroom, he gave me a weird look. I shrugged my shoulders and went to the bathroom anyway.

After I done my business in the bathroom I washed my hands and headed out. The same guy I seen before I went into the bathroom I seen him at the bottom of the steps. I walked past him as I was on my way to the kitchen but he pulled me back. I gave him a confused look as I looked back at him.

"Do I know you?" I nervously asked.

"I hope you do." He chuckled. "Can I speak with you somewhere private?" He asked.
