Natasha's POV

As soon as the coach dismissed everyone, I got off the bleachers and walked over to Carol. "Really?" I asked incredulously.

"Look, he called me right after school and told me to find a way to get the phone from you, I had no idea what he was talking about, but I said yes. I trust Steve. And if I had known it would cause issues I wouldn't have done it but he said you were in trouble."

"It's not your fault. Where is he, though?"

"He asked the coach to dismiss him early."

"Damnit! I saw him leave but I thought he was just going to the bathroom... what the hell is he gonna do?"

"I don't know, but um... here, take my phone and call him, I'll be talking to the coach over there."

I thanked her and she jogged off. I dialed Steve's number and he picked up.

"Hey, Danvers, thanks for the phone," He said.

"Rogers, what the hell?" I gritted my teeth.

"Nice to hear from you, Romanoff. Don't worry, I'll drop by your place tonight and return it."

"No, Steve, this has gone too far. Where are you?"

"Waiting in the parking lot for Sharon."

"Stay there, and don't let her see you." I hung up and tossed the phone back to Carol, who was waiting for it. I picked my bag up and ran as fast as my legs could carry me to the parking lot, where Steve was lounging against one of the cars.

"You're not letting her get away with this," He said when he saw me.

"I don't have to, because she's not getting away with anything. She's entitled to her own emotions."

"Not when her emotions hurt you," He walked towards me. I could see the anger in his eyes and my face softened. "I don't get why you keep defending her, but I won't allow it. She has to stop."

"There are other ways to get her to stop," I reasoned. I grabbed his hand and held it tight. "Steve, I am begging you. It is only going to make things worse for me. Please."

"It's not just this. She used to be friends with Peggy, too, and whenever I wanted to hang out with her, Sharon was there, telling her what to do, and what to say. It's. Enough."

"I know. I know she isn't doing a good thing, but you're stronger than her. I don't want you to do something rash." His eyebrows relaxed slightly and I stroked his face. "It's okay," I said.

"I just don't want you getting hurt on my account."

"I won't be. But she will, if you do this to her. We can turn it into someone, and they can tell her to stop. Just... give me the phone." Steve pulled it out of his pocket and placed it in my hand. "Thank you. Now come on, you can give me a ride home."

We walked in silence to his car. " You wanna hang out at my place?" He asked, pulling his car keys out.

"I told Nick I would be home by 4:00. If you want, we can hang out at my place?"

"Sure. Where's your car, I'll just follow you home. That sounded so creepy," He laughed.

"Oh, I walk to school."

"Really?"

"Yeah, Nick lets me borrow his car sometimes, but he needed to work today."

"Well, let's take my car and you can tell me where to go," Steve offered. I nodded and we got into his car. He started the engine and I saw a blonde run to the parking lot as we were pulling out. I immediately ducked down in the seat and Steve looked down at me. "Should I know why this is happening, or is this how you normally act in cars?"
