Natasha's POV
"What first?" Pepper asked, already working on a chart to tally everyone's wins throughout the game tournament.
"It's board games, not a debate tourney, Potts," Sam said dryly.
"You guys constantly get down on me for being organized, but if not for me, you wouldn't even be here," Pepper shook her head, setting down her colored markers. "Sure, Tony owns the island, but he can't tell a regressive tax from a progressive tax."
"Unfortunately, my spare time hasn't been devoted to the wonderful world of taxes," Tony said, shrugging sarcastically. "Alright, who gets first pick at games?"
"I brought them, I choose," Carol said, leaning forward and picking out a box. "Trivial Pursuit. I'd say I can conquer the Sports and Leisure category, we all know Pietro's a History buff, Wanda's got Entertainment, Tony's got Geography in the bag, and Maria will do fine in Science and Nature... Pepper obviously is going to conquer Literature... sucks for you guys," Carol snickered, gently pushing Sam, who along with Bucky, Steve, and myself had been left out.
"Nah, you worry 'bout them," Sam said slyly. "I got a couple tricks up my sleeve."
"I brought extra wheels and little chip thingys, so there's enough for everyone, but we'll see if some of you even get to use them," Carol said mischievously. Pepper quickly set up the game and then rolled the dice.
"Six," She said, satisfied.
Carol rolled next and tied with Pepper, then handed the die to me, and I rolled a two. Steve followed with a one, then Tony rolled a six. "Rigged," Steve tossed his hands up in defeat and collapsed back onto the carpet.
Pietro rolled a five, and passed it onto Wanda, whom he tied with. After everyone else rolled, those who rolled a six rolled for a tie breaker, and then Carol prepared to roll.
"Sports and Leisure, read me a question," She said excitedly, bouncing up and down as she moved her piece.
"'In 1947, who became the first African American to play on a major league baseball team?'" I said, reading off the card.
"It's like you're mocking me," Carol scoffed. "Jackie Robinson."
I discarded the card and Carol rolled again. "Alright," She moved her piece. "Entertainment this time."
"'In which 1990s sitcom do the main characters hang out and kvetch at a diner called Monk's?'" I read, flipping the card over to see the answer. (a/n so here's the thing i was proofreeding this and i think i made a typo cuz idk what 'kvetch' is in this scenario and i don't watch that sitcom so i can't fix that ahahha bc its a real question taken from trivial pursuit whoops just ignore that)
"Seinfeld, baby!" Carol crowed, rolling again. Another Sports and Leisure," She said, landing on the Sports and Leisure headquarters space. "If I answer this correctly, I get a piece, and I'm that much closer to getting a point on Pepper's god damn tally chart," She smiled.
"'What was the first American pizza chain to open a restaurant in Italy?'" I smirked, knowing fully well Carol knew her food history.
"Domino's," Carol shrugged. "Easy. Gimme a wedge."
