Weeks past and Kendall and I were perfect of course. We were happy and we were ecstatic about our relationship being almost effortless. We didn't even have to really try, it all just came naturally. It was now October 28th, a couple nights before Halloween. Kendall was over of course and we were lounging watching Hocus Pocus on the tv in my bedroom.
I cuddled close to Kendall's warmth from under his long sleeved shirt he had on. He had his arms around me as we cuddled under the covers. I was silently thinking about Halloween and then I remembered Kendall's birthday was November 2nd. That was five days away. I needed to get a gift, throw a party even, or something. "Whatcha thinking about there?" Kendall asked looking down at me with my head on his chest. I smiled up at him and then shook my head.
"Nothing, love." I assured him. He smiled and shook his head.
"I know you better than you know yourself sometimes." He said smiling. I pouted with my bottom lip out.
"If you must know," I started but then I started into the lie. "I was thinking about doing something fun for Halloween." I told him. He nodded. He bought it.
"I think I have it covered, don't worry about it." He said with his own secrets seeping through and into his voice and face. I tsk-ed my tongue on my teeth.
"You can tell me what you're hiding." I told him. He shook his head firmly.
"Nope." He protested.
"Why?" I pouted again. He laughed and kept his eyes to the screen.
"You'll find out tomorrow anyway." He hinted. I gasped and sat up with my elbows on the bed and my chin still on his chest. His eyes looked surprised and then smirked.
"What's tomorrow?!" I asked excitedly. He shrugged.
"I don't know. I guess we'll find out." He said. I tsk-ed again.
"You already know!" I complained like a four year old. Kendall sighed and looked back at the movie playing.
"We will be doing something fun." He said.
"What does that mean?" I asked him digging for more clues.
"I mean, you and I can both happily say we won't be trick or treating on Halloween." He said. Then tilted his head thinking into space. "Or any of our friends for that matter." He said then shrugging and then watching tv again. I gasped.
"No!" I said thinking I knew what he was up to. My excitement was overbearing. "VW Bus?" I asked him. He closed his eyes in regret of speaking I'm sure.
"That's all you'll be getting out of me tonight. Don't even try for more." He said sighing and grabbing the remote. He then clicked the tv off and shrugged down under the covers. I bit my lip in excitement. I giggled uncontrollably in the darkness.
"We're going on a road trip?" I asked him. He chuckled.
"Nope." He said. I frowned to myself.
"Are we driving a bus?" I asked him.
"Nope." He said. This was a pattern.
"Are you just saying no to get me to shut up?" I asked. He was quiet a second.
"Yes." He replied this time as I rolled my open eyes in the dark.
"I'm excited." I whispered in his ear as I then lied down next to him and his arms automatically find my waist and pulls me close to him between the sheets.
"Should be. Now go to sleep." He whispered kissing my forehead and then sighing. I cuddled in close and held my breath trying to get my pulse to slow and my excitement to subside till tomorrow.
"Wake up my love." Kendall said the next morning. I fluttered my eyes open to see myself alone in the bed and Kendall throwing a flannel over a tank top. I furrowed my brow and stayed under the warm covers. Kendall had a suitcase out of my closet and was packing some of my clothes at the foot of my bed. He had on black jeans, slip on shoes, a white tank top, and a red and black flannel on top. His hair was fixed already and I was nowhere near ready.
"What time is it?" I asked sleepily. Kendall looked at me in the reflection of us in the full length mirror in the corner of my room.
"It's six." He said as if that wasn't early. I groaned and pulled the covers up and under my chin.
"It's too early. It's also very cold." I said frowning. Kendall sighed and turned around. He walked towards the bed and climbed on then flopping down next to me and holding me from above the covers.
"Get up, take a shower, and getting dressed means getting warmer faster." Kendall said shrugging. I stuck out my bottom lip and rolled my eyes.
"Fine." I said shrugging. He smiled and then kissed my cheek.
"I'll be in here packing your half of the suitcase." Kendall said hoping up and then continued pulling things off my hangers and putting them in the suitcase. I was hesitant to his choices in clothing, but he knew what I looked best in better than I did. I got up reluctantly after instructing Kendall to pick me out an outfit since I wasn't going to freeze choosing an outfit for today.
I took a shower and then I was free to put on the over sized hoodie Kendall had given me, which was actually his, and some flared jeans. I let my hair stay down in it's wet state knowing it'd eventually get to it's naturally straight look. I walked out into the bedroom where Kendall was sitting on the bed with his duffle bag now transferring it's contents into the suitcase next to my clothing. I furrowed my brow.
"I was basically sleeping before my shower when I was talking to you. So, I'm gonna just ask, why are we packing?" I asked walking past Kendall and to my vanity in the corner of the room. I applied my normal face look and combed out my hair. Kendall finished before answering so he zipped up the suitcase.
"Number two." Kendall smiled over his shoulder and looked at me in the reflection of the mirror in front of me. I then remembered last night and now was very very excited to get going.
"Oh my God!" I said jumping up from my chair and then literally jumping up and down happily. Kendall smirked. He grabbed his own hoodie and then put it on.
"C'mon, let's get breakfast before we meet up with everyone." Kendall said then turning fully to look at me after I had my fit of jumping subside. He offered his hand to me as we both headed towards the door and I smiled taking it. We walked down the street to a nice little place where they had spectacular white chocolate and macadamia nut pancakes. We then stopped at a coffee shop afterwards on our way back to my apartment.
"We've completed almost the entire list." I told Kendall after we returned to my place and had rolled the suitcase into the living room by the door. We lounged on the couch until James and the rest of the guys were supposed to be showing up.
"Almost." I said with my back on Kendall's chest and my legs out on the other two cushions of the couch. I had Kendall's fingers intertwined with mine and my other holding his wrist of the same hand. Kendall kissed the back of my head as I closed my eyes and sighed enjoying this moment.
"Almost." Kendall whispered back. Soon enough, James, Logan, Carlos, Alexa, and Dustin were downstairs. Kendall and I headed down and then Kendall covered my eyes before I could see anything.
