It had been days since the feast, and most of the hall had been cleaned. I stayed in my room, grieving my brother. I couldn't sleep without his face haunting my dreams, so I didn't. Ulfric hadn't been by, and I hadn't expected him to be. Galmar tried to get me to eat, and had left several plates of food at my door. I didn't want to tell him that I couldn't hold anything down. There was a knock at my door that pulled me from staring at the wall.
" Galmar, I'm fine." I said, not moving from my place on the bed.
" Um, Lady Dragonborn, I have a letter for you." a voice said shakily from the other side of the room. I crawled off of the bed and opened the door. A guard, younger than most, stood with a piece of parchment in his hands. " It's from Jarl Siddgeir."
I rolled my eyes as I took the paper, thanking him. Tearing the wax seal, I read the letter. It's contents made my stomach drop. I looked back up at him, frantic.
" Where is Ulfric and Galmar?"
" Ulfric is in the war room and Galmar is in the training grounds." the young man said.
" Bring Galmar to the war room." I said, closing the door.
After changing into something clean and braiding my hair, I practically ran to the war room.
" Ulfric! I have urgent news!" I said, interrupting his conversation with another soldier.
" Wan-"
" Out." I said to the soldier, who promptly scampered out. Ulfric looked at me incredulously as Galmar walked in behind me.
" Asdis, what is this abou-" he paused when he saw me. " Asdis, you look like you haven't slept in days." he said, looking me up and down.
Ignoring him, I put a magic barrier around the room, preventing anyone from entering or hearing what happened in the room.
" There is a mole in the castle." I said, handing Ulfric the letter.
" A mole?" Galmar said, looking over Ulfric's shoulder to read the letter.
" Yes. We don't know who, but it is someone close to Ulfric." I explained, pacing the room.
" Why would Siddgeir tell you this?" Ulfric asked, looking at me intently.
" I- we sort of- were distracted at the feast." I said, embarrassed.
" By the gods, Wanderer!" Ulfric said, exasperated at me.
" In my defense I wouldn't have been so rash if it weren't for you. That doesn't matter now anyway," I said, pointing to the map on the table, " whoever has access to that should be our first suspects."
" I can't trust anything you say Wanderer-"
" I killed my brother for you, Ulfric." I said, glaring into his eyes. " Do not question my loyalty."
" Ulfric, regardless of how you feel, Asdis and Siddgeir could be correct. It would make sense why the damned Imperials show up to everything with twice the force." Galmar said, taking the letter in his own hands.
" Galmar-"
" No. Get your head out of your ass. You need Asdis." he said, effectively shutting Ulfric up. Ulfric sighed, slumping his shoulders in defeat.
" What did you have in mind?" he asked me.
" I have a manor just outside of Falkreath. We can stay there while someone trusted stays here and finds the mole." I said, pointing to the spot on the map where Lakeview Manor resided. " I think Sifnar would be perfect, he goes unnoticed and is trustworthy enough to feed a room full of men, none of which he likes, and not poison them."
