Shy asked us to meet her at her house to talk about the bake sale. She seemed really happy about this. I liked that about her. This may help her with her healing case of depression. And hey, this sounds fun. There’s just one issue here. I have no idea how to bake.
I was never taught by my mother about how to do it, and I never had any relative talk to me about baking at any point of my life. No one in my family really baked anyway. They only grilled, fried, and baked meat. They never even thought about baking pastries.
This may be a good day for me to learn.
I met up with Ruby and Ham outside the school campus. They seemed a bit happy to see me. As well as themselves. Ham started our little conversation with his good old southern accent.
“So, are y’all ready to bake?” He said. From the way he said it it seemed that he didn’t think he would ever say that.
“You bet I am.” Stated Ruby, “Where’s Sheila?”
“She is at her house getting ready. She told me to gather the others up and meet her there.” I explained. “She gave me directions to her place. So I will need you two to follow me.”
“Okay, are we going now?” Ruby asked.
“Yep, here we go!” I announced. I started to march to Shy’s house. Ruby grabbed Hams large hands and walked with him.
We walked down the street in silence for a few minutes. Ruby looked at me awkwardly as she walked with Ham. Something was different about Ruby today. I guess that it was nothing. She just feels different than the first time I’ve seen her.
“So, Shy told me that she was going to do most of the baking if she needs to.” I explained to the others.
“She seems real excited ‘bout this.” Ham stated.
“She really is.” I looked down the road at the full streets. I wondered what Shy was doing right now.
“She always seemed to have a love for baking.” I said to the others as we took a corner down the sidewalk.
“Let's just get there.” Ruby said.
“Alright, alright.” I groaned. “Her house is just up ahead.”

When we finally got to Shy’s house we looked at the place. I got a good look at her “house”. It wasn’t what I thought it was to be honest. She lived in a single roomed apartment with a small window in the front of the house. I knocked on the door and waited for her to let us in.
I guess I surprised her because I heard a metal bole drop on the floor and heard wild footsteps sprinting to the door. It swung open and I Shy standing there breathing heavily with flour all over her body.
“I-I didn't expect you to be here so soon.” She said. “Um… welcome to my home..” she seemed really nervous. I guess she doesn’t get visitors often. I took a good look at her dress attire, she wore a long red apron and she was covered in flour and water. She looked really cute in it.
“So this is your place?” Ruby asked. “I thought that you would live in a shack or something.”“Um… yeah.. I worked for this in more ways than one… I think I earned this place.” Shy looked a little offended. I smiled to reassure her that we didn’t mean to hurt her. She smiled back and moved from the door.
“Come on inside.” She moved from the doorway and let us in. "Oh and watch out for the cat, Venus gets a little rough around strangers."
Just as she said that a white cat with orange and brown spots on its body. It took one good look at all of us and shifted uncomfortablely. They didn't look happy about our arrival.
"Awwww, your cat us so cute." Ruby said in awe.
"Especially if they are owned by someone like you." Ham said. I elbowed him the gut. He let out a groan."W-what?..."
"He ment that you would take good care of your cat." I saved us from hearing her cry.
"Oh. Okay, well, go ahead and come in. I wanna talk about the event." Shy guided us to her dining room table and had us take a seat. The sad thing was that there was only one chair. So Shy said, "Oh I should get some chairs for all of us." She ran into what I was guessing was a storage room and tried to drag out with 3 extra chairs. For all of us. While she was gone I could have sworn that I've seen Ham take something from the top of her counter.
"What do you got there Ham?" I asked him.
"Oh? Me? Nothing." Ham was looking very suspicious right now. I couldn't do anything about it though. If there was anything missing I was sure Shy would notice it.
"Hm.. well of you took anything put it back." I commanded.
"I didn't take anything." Ham admitted. I knew I couldn't do anything so I let it go for nowA few moments later Shy cane back into the dinning room with the last chair. She looked around.
"Um... where's my....." Shy was interupted by Ham with a random out burst.
"So, what are we going to cook for the bake sale!?" Shy looked at him. I think she forgot what she was going to say.
"Oh um... I-I was thinking that we would make cookies or.. cake for the bake sale. I wou..." She was interupted again.
"I think we should make a quiche." Ruby added. Do they even care about what she was saying?
"Oh um.. yeah.. that sounds great.." Shy sounded defeated. I wanted to say something to reassure her. So I went with her idea.
"I like Shy's idea. Cookies are much easier to make for me." I laughed nervously.
"Hm.. I think that that's a wonderful idea. We could do both. But I will not bake a cake." Ham didn't look at happy though.
"O-okay.. I guess.. lets um.. do that then.." Shy walked to the kitchen and tossed us some aprons. "Make sure that you don't step on Venus. I don't want him to yell at me."
"Alright. Let's do this!" Ham ran into the kitchen. He put on his appropriate but didn't look happy about it.
I think I am getting way to deep into this. He is our friend. Why do I find him suspicious?
Me and the others followed Ham into the kitchen. Shy looked at all of us with a slight smile.
'Don't worry Shy,' I thought, 'this will be fun for all of us. You'll see.'
Shy grabed all of the stuff that we needed before hand. She grabbed the flour, the sugar, vanilla, eggs, ect. She had all that we needed for our little baking party.
She looked at all of it and sighed to herself. I hoped that was a sigh of relief and not something else. I wanted this to be a fun time for all of us. I guess I should start to work on the baking.
I grabbed the cook book from her counter and I began to read. I looked at the recipes, hoping to find an easy one for me to do. But as I looked through the book, I found that all of the books were very complex and long. I didn't even know some of the names of the ingredients. I looked at Shy and I gave her a look that told her that I had no idea what I was doing.
"Oh, you need a easy one?" Shy asked. "We can um.. just make some chocolate chip if you want."
"I would be okay with that if you want that." I wanted her to have as much fun as possible.
"well, I wanted to make them from scratch. I love doing that." She seemed really happy now.
"Okay. Let's go." I smiled at her and I started to gather some flour.
'Okay, lets do this." I thought this was gonna be great.
