The Plan(s) {Betty Cooper} {Bughead}

The Group

After everyone had changed the group had to decide how they were getting to Pop's. Jug and his crew had their bikes and Archie had his truck. The girls said that they could walk but everyone else disagreed so the girls decided that V and Cheryl should ride in the truck cab with Arch since they were worried about their hair and Betty was left with the choice of the truck bed or one of the bikes. Archie protested that all of them could fit in the cab but Jug and his crew argued that it wasn't safe to ride that way or in the truck bed and that she would be much safer on one of their bikes. Betty agreed to go on Jugs bike as long as he obeyed all traffic laws. Jug smiled suggestively and handed her his helmet.

"Hold on tight" he said as he took off leaving Archie scowling behind them. They reached their destination far too quickly he thought and waited in the parking lot for their friends. His crew chatted while he spoke softly to Betty.

"Your dance was beautiful" he said.

"Thanks. I was nervous because I thought people would make fun of me." B replied. Jug frowned,

"Why would anyone make fun of your dance?" he questioned.

"It's kind of a sexy dance and no one at this school thinks that I'm sexy." She said.

Jug looked confused and ask " Why do you think that?" Before she could answer, the rest of their friends showed up and they all went into Pop's together. The diner was crowded and they all piled into the last available booth. Betty sat on one side while Archie slid in next to her. Jug surveyed the situation and shrugged. He then climbed over the back of the booth to sit on the other side of B. Arch scowled while Jugs crew snickered.

"You weren't kidding about the body guard thing" V said to Cheryl and they and Toni cuddled into the other side while Sweet Pea and Fangs pulled up a couple of chairs at the end of the table. After they all ordered, B and V explained to the rest of the group how they met earlier.

"I thought that you were hanging with him" both Arch and Jug said when she explained that she was at Pop's alone. B just shrugged while V took over telling the story.

When she finished, Cheryl kissed V on the cheek and said, "I will forever be in your debt for getting my dear cousin to try out finally. Now we will have so much fun together during cheer season, all three of us."

"Does that mean that we both made it?" asked V.

"Of course" Cheryl responded while B and V giggled excitedly.

"I wish that you went to our school." B said to Toni. "Then you could be on the squad too!"

"I'm not sure that I would fit in at Riverdale High" Toni replied.

"Of course you would. Plus I'm the HBIC so since you friends with me, you would be golden" Cheryl said.

After the food arrived the kids ate and joked around with each other. The rest of the kids in Pop's were surprised to see the mixed group of south and north siders getting along so well. The group had many stares and glares shot their way but after a while Jug and Arch noticed that many of the boys were shooting B lingering stares. After a while even B noticed. She turned to Jug and asked if she had anything on her face. Jug took the excuse to stare at her closely and drink in her huge eyes, bright smile and glowing skin.

"You look beautiful to me" he replied as she blushed and Arch glared. V caught all of this and gave Cheryl a knowing glance. A bit later V and Cheryl excused themselves to use the powder room. On their way out of the bathroom door and tall boy intercepted them.

"You are friends with Betty, right?" He asked. Startled they both nodded.

He went on "My name if Kevin and I just moved here last month. I was at the cheer tryouts and I overheard a conversation that involved your friend." He then went on to tell them everything that he heard in the stands. The girls were shocked and asked him to give them a minute to discuss it.

"What do you think?" asked V.

"Now that I think about it, it totally tracks. That's why no one asks Betts out. That's partly why she has such low self esteem." Cheryl replied.

"Do you really think that they are doing it just to protect her?" V asked.

Cheryl shrugged while saying "I'm sure that's what they tell themselves but I'm fairly certain that it's just pure jealousy."

"Alright. I don't want to hurt Betty or break up their friendship but this has to end. We need to do something." V stated.

"I agree and it sounds like Jug feels the same way. Archie is going to be a problem though. He is a bit spoiled and he won't stop until he gets what he wants." Cheryl said. V agreed even though she just met them all, she felt like Jug was a better fit for B anyway and said as much to Cheryl.

She replied "I agree but we need to get even with them both a bit for what they did to Betty." They quickly hatched a plan and asked Kevin if he could play the leading role in their plan.

"I would love to but I'm gay and I can't play Betty's love interest." he said.

"Hmmm. Ok, I think that I can get someone. It might actually lead to romance for both of them too." V said. They all went back to the table and introduced Kevin to the group. After Kevin got a chair so he could sit next to Fangs, V invited all the girls and Kevin to a sleepover that night.

"Why does Kevin get to go?" Archie pouted.

"Because I'm gay and I need friends" Kevin replied. Archie looked shocked while everyone else chuckled.

"Then I should be invited too" said Fangs and it was Sweet Peas turn to look shocked while Toni said " I knew it!" and Kevin smiled suggestively at him.

"Unfortunately, we have a mandatory club meeting tonight" Jug said. After B and Cheryl checked with their moms and Kevin checked with his dad it was decided. The boys and Toni offered to drive them all home but V and Cheryl were worried about their hair so they convince Archie to drive them first to Cheryl's and then to V's. Fangs jumped at the chance to drive Kevin home and to V's and Jug insisted on giving Betty a ride even though she protested that she could just walk. V rolled her eyes at Cheryl while Cheryl elbowed her.

"Lets go Archiekins! I need to get to my house to set up" V said. She told B and Kevin to take their time so they wouldn't arrive before her.

"Your welcome" she whispered to Jug on her way out the door. He looked after her, confused. Surely she couldn't suspect, could she?

"My lady, your chariot awaits." he said to B while handing her the helmet.

B smiled and said " Are you sure Juggie? I don't want to make you late for your meeting." He grinned down at her. He loved when she called him that.

"It will be fine. I have plenty of time and besides Toni went ahead and she will tell them where I am. In fact, I was wondering if you wanted to take a ride with me since you have some extra time?"

"Sure" Betty bounced happily. She climbed on the bike and snuggled into Jug while he grinned.
