Bettys POV

The trip to NY was awesome. V fit in with C and I so well it was like we had all known each other our entire lives. On the way there, V called her friend Peter and filled him in on the plan.

She smiled as she hung up and said, "Peters in. He was bored and lonely anyways."

"Thanks V" I said.

She raised her perfect eyebrows at me and said " You never know, you might end up liking him"

I frowned "I'm not sure if I want that. Jug and I have something started and I don't want to lose that."

V said "I'm not saying that you have to lose anything. He and Arch took away all your dating fun until now. Why can't you date a few people at the same time? Have some fun to make up for the time that you lost."

I shrug and said, "I don't think that Jug would be ok with that. He's not really a casual date kind of guy.'

V scowled "So what? This isn't about what he wants. He and Arch have had control over your dating for you entire life. Now this is your time. You get to pick. You should have fun for a while before picking a boyfriend, if you want a boyfriend at all."

"You're right. I need to take my life back. Ok." I said.

"No No NO" said Cheryl "That's too easy. You say that now but once we get back, you're going to take one look at Jugheads big blues and agree to be his girlfriend. You need to make a serious promise and have a minimum amount of time that you will just date. I've got it! Only casual dating until homecoming in a month and a half"

V nodded "Oooh. That's good. But it needs to be more specific. Not only just casual dating but you have to date at least two people every week."

"Can they be the same two people every week?" I asked.

"Nope" C said "one person can be the same but you have to date at least one new person every week"

V piped in "That's fair, its only five weeks, so five guys at the minimum."

"Fine" I said " but this week can't count since I'm with you in New York."

"NOPE. This week counts as a half week so you need to at least date one person." V said.

"OK" I agreed.

When we get to the hotel V's mom checked us in and we dropped off our bags and got cleaned up. I texted the guys and my mom to let them know that we were safely there. After that we chilled in our suite for a half an hour until V got a text.

"Yay! Peter's here. Mom, we are going to go down and meet Peter. We might go shopping for a few hours. Do you want to come?"

"No thanks honey, I'm just going to take a nice bath. Why don't we all go out to a nice dinner though? Be sure to invite Peter too. Let's say 8pm? Oh and grab my charge card in my purse. Your dad said that anything you or your friends want is on him this trip " She called back. V smiled and we all agreed to that wonderful sounding plan.

We headed down to meet Peter and I have to admit, I was nervous. As we got off the elevator I was distracted by the beauty of the hotel and was looking everywhere. I stopped to look up at the ceiling and was entranced by the artwork I found there. I stood there transfixed until I heard V calling my name.

"Earth to Betty. Come meet Peter" she laughed as they walked over to me. I finally looked over and was breathless to discover the deepest brown eyes that I had ever encountered. Peter was adorable and had the sweetest smile. He looked down at me and said with a face full of wonder

"Nice to meet you, Betty. Are you actually looking up at the ceiling? No one ever looks up."

I blushed and said "Yes. I'm a weirdo. Nice to meet you too" He smiled and shook my hand warmly.

We had the best day. Peter took us to a café for lunch and then on an amazing shopping trip. Peter and V knew all the best stores and C and V were the best stylists anyone could ever want. They picked out exactly what would look great on each of us and we even managed to find a shirt for Kevin that I knew he will love.

Peter and V had an ongoing argument on who would pay for things. He insisted on paying for lunch and he paid for our clothes at one of the shops when V wasn't looking. They argued like siblings but anyone could tell that they were good friends who loved each other. The whole time, Peter kept glancing at me. He always seemed to walk next to me and we were chatting like best friends. By the end of the day I had learned all about his family, school, likes and hobbies and he mine. We found that we had the same taste in music and both liked to dance.

We headed back to the hotel around 6 and Peter walked us in. He was going to head home to change and then meet up with us later for dinner. As we got out of the car, Peter and I hung back from the girls and I found him holding my hand as we walked. I smiled shyly at him and he grinned back at me.

"Is this ok?" he whispered and I nodded.

When we got to the hotel V turned around and said, "I want to get a picture of the two of you. You look so cute." We agreed and Peter put his arm around me and smiled.

"Perfect.' V said. We said our goodbyes and let him know what restaurant to meet us at later.

After we got upstairs, the girls grilled me while we got ready.

"So?" V asked

"He's so cute and I think I kinda like him" I said. Both girls smiled.

"Good. He can be your first date." C said.

I protested, "I'm not sure he likes me. Plus doesn't he think it's strange that we are using him in this whole payback thing?"

"Not according to the text he just sent me. It says "let Betty know that I can be her payback anytime, anyplace"" V said as I blushed and went to take a shower since everyone else had already bathed.

After showering and drying my hair I came out to find C and V smirking over her phone.

"Oh no" I said "not more texts from Peter."

"Oh we had a few of those. Let me tell you, that boy has it bad for you. but that's not what we're laughing at. We just sent Kevin the picture of you and Peter." V replied

"So?" I said.

"Guess who he showed it to, dear cousin?" C asked.

"Oh no!" I said

"Oh yes!" V said "Guess what two very jealous Riverdale guys just saw a picture of you with another man's arm around you?"
