Suspicions

Archie and Jughead slept in on Friday and were awakened by both their phones dinging a text alert.

"Betty says that they will be back around 5 and wants to meet at Pop's" Archie said.

"Do you think that will be safe?" Jug asked.

"As long as we leave before 8 or so, we should be good. Most of the kids won't be in until later." Arch responded

"Aren't you going to be late for practice?" Jug asked

"After yesterday, I'm not going. I don't need to deal with that. Plus, practice usually goes until 6 and I don't want to give you any extra time with Betts." Arch said with a dark smile.

He continued "Speaking of, what exactly happened between you two on Tuesday night? I thought that I saw a light hickey on her when she left Wednesday morning."

Jug narrowed his eyes and replied harshly "None of your business. Just a heads up though, Betts isn't into you. She likes someone else."

"Who? You?" Arch smirked, "You wish".

"Whatever you say" Jug said as he scrolled through his phone. Arch stood up and things were about to get heated when he noticed Jug's face drop.

"Did you see this yet?" Jug asked while he showed Arch the picture of the flowers with V's caption "Look at what Peter got our sweet Betts last night".

"This guy is seriously starting to bug me." Jug said.

"V is too" Arch replied. He was really bothered by the phrase OUR sweet Betts.

"She's not theirs, she's ours" he ranted. "She's known her less than a week and now they are all best friends? NO!" He continued.

"C has always been with B" Jug reminded him.

"Only because you made me let them. I wanted to come between them when C showed up in first grade but nooo you said that she was B's cousin and B needed to have a friend who was a girl!"

"You can't keep her from everyone. That's not healthy. In fact, its abusive!" Jug yelled back.

"Ok Ok" Arch said realizing he had said too much. "We don't need to turn on each other. We need to work together when she gets back to do damage control."

"I guess" Jug said half heartedly.

Jug started to look through all the posts that the girls and that ass Peter posted from their trip this week.

"Huh" he said, "did you notice that Kevin responded to every picture posted about the girls trip?"

"So?" Archie questioned "so did Reggie and Dilton... and Sweet Pea and Toni for that matter... and some of the stuff they posted was really dirty."

"Yeah but the way Kevin posts... it's like he's in on something." Jug said

"What do you mean?" Arch snapped.

"He puts wink emojis everywhere and on the first picture of Betts with that ass he put 'Is this THE guy?' and on this flower one he posted 'It looks like everything is working even better than we hoped' and V gave him a thumbs up." "I think that the girls are up to something and Kevin is in on it. We need to see if we can get him to talk, something is going on and I don't like being kept in the dark" Jug continued. Arch agreed and called Kevin and put it on speaker.

"Hi Arch! Did you hear? The girls should be home soon!" Kevin answered.

"Yeah, Betts texted us. Your on speaker with Jug btw. We wanted to talk to you. Would you be able to meet up with us today?"

"Ummm...nope sorry. I'm busy all day but I'll be at Pop's to welcome the girls home." K said, obviously lying.

Jug rolled his eyes and pushed, "Just for a few minutes? We will be really quick."

"Sorry" Kevin responded quickly.

"Ok" Jug continued, "can we ask you a few questions now? What exactly did you talk about at that sleepover on Tuesday?"

"Sorry, boys. Anything that is said at a sleepover, stays at a sleepover. It's a sacred vow. I've got to go, I hear my dad calling. Bye, see you tonight!" and K hung up.

"Suspicious" Jug said and Arch agreed.

They spent most of the day playing video games. At 3pm Jug left to go shower and change.

"See you at 5 at Pop's" He called on his way out the door. Archie waved and headed up to shower and change himself. Neither boy had any idea what surprises the night would hold for them.
