"She will only go to one place and that is The Golden Gate-The same place where her father would take her every now and then...."
"Oh.... well, thank you so much and I really have to go meet her now".
I drove in my bike there and thoughts about her were flashing-like the very first time I saw her, our drama play, the dinner , the movie...Oh! Not to forget-our first kiss. So I had reached the place, parked my bike and went on the bridge. I could see her, standing there and holding the railing of the bridge and looking at the blue Pacific with those exotic dark brown eyes. Her gown was fluttering along with her hair dancing in the cool, evening breeze. I went and stood next to her and I could see tears rolling down her cheeks. I said, "Hi!"
"Hey..."
She was still looking at the blues and she turned her head towards me and said, "My father used to take me here almost each and every day when I was young. He would buy me cotton candy and get me here for a walk. Ever since then, whenever I was sad or happy, it just felt right to come here and look at the sea. He used to always tell me - Never lose hope in yourself. You should never have fears and difficulties change you and there are no permanent issues, fears or disappointments. All you need is courage to solve your problems and gratitude to thank whatever you have..."
Now I understood why there were so many people mourning over his death.
He seriously was a marvellous person.
Tears rolled down her eyes and her fingers looked numb after having wiped all those tears. Seeing the pain in her eyes made my soul clench with anguish and her bleak glare seared into me like daggers as I uselessly stood there. I didn't know what to say and said, "Umm...Jessie, I don't know if this is the right time to tell you this but, I don't have a father."
She looked at me and said, "What?"
"He passed away when I was less than a year old..."
"H-How did that happen?"
"He was on the way to his parents place in India and the plane through which he went crashed.... and you know my pet name Benny right?"
"Ya...I heard your mom call you Benny the other day through the phone.."
"It was my father's name - Bentley Willows....Many thought I looked very similar to my dad and my close ones started to call me by the name Benny".
She looked into my eyes straight and wrapped me in her hands. She hugged me with her soft hands, with her head resting near my heart-the very place she belongs...
She took away her hands from me, looking into my eyes, she said, "It must have been so painful...."
She turned towards the waters again and pointed her finger to one building and said, "You see the beige house next to the red one...?"
"Ya"
"That's the beach house my dad owned and my dad, mom and I would always go there when there was a long weekend or a holiday....The view of the beach from the window there is so beautiful....."
"Not as beautiful as you though..."He held both my hands that were on the railing with his and hugged me from the back...I felt so protected and warm in his arms that my world becomes totally different when I am with him. He is just like this some sort of wonder that makes things alright though they aren't...wait? Am I falling for him? No,that's where I made the mistake...I have already fallen for him.❤️
"You wanna have cotton candy?"
She smiled at me and I took that as a yes and I took her to the store and we bought cotton candy and she said, "Aren't you going to eat?"
"Umm...that's ok, you have it".
She quickly pulled out a little from hers and put it into my mouth as I refused to eat...
"You are stupid Jessie..."
"Look who is talking....🙃"
So we went to her mother's place and we ringed the bell and Ms.Eileen came and opened the door...
She said, "Come in..."
We went and in and we saw my mother sitting on the couch;
"Ma?"
"Hi Benny"
I went and hugged her and said, "You said you wouldn't be back until the next few days..."
"It isn't like I will leave Ms.Eileen in a situation like this,Chris..."
"You didn't have to do that Mary..."
My mom saw Jessica and said, "Hi Jessie..."
She went and hugged her also and held her hands and said, "So sorry for what has happen....how are you feeling now?"
She still had that void that can never be filled, no matter what so ever and whosoever entered her life but she said, "Much better, Ms.Mary".
She gave me a quick glance and the smallest of a smile went across the corners of her rose tinted lips. Was she trying to tell me I made her feel better....
We stayed for a little more while and my mom got up from her couch, dusted her dress and said, "It's quite late now...we will get going and please don't hesitate to call me if you people need anything, Ok Eileen?"
"Sure Mary"
"Bye Ms.Mary!"
"Oh and Jessica, from Monday, Chris will pick you up for school, ok dear?"
"There's no need for that Ms.-"
"Chris, pick her up everyday and drop her off from now Ok?"
"Sure, ma."
"Bye Jessica".
"Bye Chris."
We drove to our house and I said, "So you and Ms.Eileen are that close..."
"Umm....you can say that".
"So How did your business trip go on?"
"Well, it was good and it was supposed to end off tomorrow which is early but since all this happen here, I just boarded a flight this afternoon..."
"Oh..."
"Did you talk to Jessica"
"Ya...I went and spoke to her on the Bridge".
"Bridge?"
"Ya, that was where her father would take her every day and she just goes there whenever she feels lonely or something like that..."
"Oh..."
We went home and I went and lied down on my bed and I got a text on my phone. I thought it was Alex but it was from Jessica and she sent a text saying....
