I went and sat on the couch next to the window while it was still raining outside. The room was filled totally with silence and I held in my hands whatever I found in the pocket. I had my fist clenched as I held the locket I found in the pocket and I loosened my hand and opened my fingers and looked at the locket again. It was heart-shaped and it had a few words carved on its small metal surface:'With you, I am complete.
I need you like the air I breathe'Tears rolled down my eyes as I could have done no other mistake as huge as this. How could I do this?! All I could hear now was the pattering of the raindrops on the window and my heart beating. I don't even think he will want to see my face again. ever.
I could hear the doorknob turning and my mom entered the room and said, "Dear, you want me to drop you off to work tom-
Hey...why are you crying....."
She came towards me and sat on the couch and took me in her caring and nurturing arms and said, "What happen?"
When she asked me this, I could no longer stay strong without breaking down. I said,
"I did a mistake, ma....""What went wrong?"
"You remember I told you about what happen at the ice cream shop?"
"The Chris thing?"
"Yeah...."
"What about that?"
"That was his sister, ma".
Saying this, I hugged her and started to pour down even more and I said,
"I wish I had just one more chance, ma. Just one more chance"
I was still wrapped in her warm hug and mom withdrew and held my hands with hers and said,
"Mistakes happen, dear"
"But who would do such a mistake....he will not even want to see my face ever again even if I want to explain myself"
"Don't worry, baby. It's perfectly ok if you have done such a mistake and any other girl who could have possibly been in your shoes would have reacted in the same way"
"But how do I make up to it?"
"You have Ashley's wedding in another two days. It is not like Chris is going to miss his best friend's wedding, right? Then go talk to him...."
After she gave me this idea, I felt a little better and I hugged my mom again and said,
"You are the BEST, ma"
She smiled and said, "You want me to stay here?"
"No, that's fine.
Goodnight!""Goodnight!"
Saying this, she went out of the room and I felt a lot better after I spoke to my mother and I looked at the jacket that was still lying on my lap. I smiled and took the jacket and wore it and surprisingly, it still fit me. I felt the same amount of warmth I would get whenever I hugged Benny and I am feeling like he is hugging me. I looked at the locket yet again and I kissed it and I wore it around my neck. I was thinking about every small and silly thing that happen in our relationship and I remembered about the fight we once had about deciding what to eat. I gently hit my head and started to laugh and I slowly dozed off into a deep, calm and cosy sleep in his jacket.
*****************
Today is my beloved BFF's wedding and I have been dreaming of this day from when for the only god knows. I am in my bathrobe and I am in front of my mirror doing my hair and makeup. After giving a finishing touch to my face, I put on my gown that was blue and wore a bracelet with charms on my left hand. Ash and I bought the same type of bracelet and she is also going to wear it today. I wore 'the locket' and looked at myself in the mirror for one last time and I walked down to the living area. I told my mom that I would be leaving and took the flowers that I had to carry while I walk down the aisle. I wore the blue heels that I bought to match my dress and I went to the car and started off to the Church. I reached the Church on time and I parked my car under the shade of a tree. I got down and took a deep breath and entered through the majestic, highly polished wooden doors of the Church that rose to a great height.
The musicians played the most melodious tunes and the bridesmaids entered the Church. They were escorted by the groomsmen and I could see Alex on the stage already. And it was time for me to enter. The music was still playing and I heard footsteps next to me.... wait, what?!
I was to be escorted by the Best Man and he is Chris?! He came and stood next to me and we walked down the aisle. He was looking really handsome in the suit of his and this was the first time I looked at him after so many long years. I could hear my heart pounding in my chest and I felt it would fall away. His presence next to me made me feel really happy and we went near the stage. The flower girl and the ring bearer also entered and after them, there she was-The Bride. She was in the majestic white gown with the veil covering her face. She walked down the aisle, accompanied by her father and she came and stood on the stage. She wore diamond earrings and a necklace that matched her earrings. She wore the bracelet also and the proceedings started. They took the vows and they exchanged the rings and the priest declared them husband and wife and said, "Now you may kiss the bride".
Here's the golden moment I have been waiting for all the way from the tenth grade...
When they kissed, all of the entire crowd present cheered them and the church bells rang at the perfect time and it showed happiness and harmony. We all went to the dining hall and had lunch and we had a party this evening at the beach. A huge tent would be put up to accommodate all of Ashley's and Alex's friends. We all went home and we were excited about the party and little did I know that the party would have something waiting for me......
