Isabel Lopez

(Okay so Isabel was my first Marvel-based OC but she wasn't meant for the MCU; she was gonna be in the X-Men franchise but Marvel is Marvel so I'm putting her here.)

Isabel Lopez is a nurse at a high school in Wharton, TX. Upbeat, friendly, outgoing, kind and warm -- students and staff alike have always gravitated to Isabel. Which is ironic considering her unique ability of gravitikinesis. Isabel didn't know that's what it was, nor did Charles Xavier when he first approached her with Erik Lehnsherr; he just thought she was telekinetic. But when Isabel, in a fit of stressed rage, nearly creates a black hole, Charles and Isabel had to revaluate everything they thought they knew about her powers. When she was a child, Isabel used to pray to God, hoping he'd take away her strange powers and believed them -- and her, as a result -- to be an abomination. As she got older, she came to accept them and realized that they are a miracle. Isabel realized that she her powers were the same as her medical knowledge -- a tool innate to her being that she used to protect and help people. Her power is a blessing, not a curse as she spent so many years believing.

After Charles is paralyzed, their budding romance blossomed as Isabel moved to New York to help him with opening his school. Thing were going well, at first. Isabel found her calling helping young mutants alongside Charles and Hank. She loves the work and finds herself falling in love with Charles, and he with her. When the war started and most students left, either to enlist or because they were drafted or just to be with their families, the school was forced to close and Charles fell apart. He started drinking more and more, and his addiction to the serum Hank created for him led to a rift in his relationship with Isabel. Feeling backed into a corner, she enlists in the Army Nurse Corps and leaves Charles, hoping that he'll change but not expecting much. She writes him while she's overseas in Vietnam but he never responds. Eventually, she is reunited with Alex and helps Mystique get him and the other mutants out of Vietnam. 

Eventually, Isabel returns to New York and Charles and the pair patch things up. They start from scratch, slowly rebuilding their love from the foundation up. 

"Who the hell are you?"
"Major Isabel Lopez. I'm the new nurse."
"Major Lopez, how'd you get here? Take a wrong turn at Hawaii?"
"No, I volunteered."
"And here I was hoping you were sane!"
"I don't believe in the war. I don't like war. I just want to help save lives."
"That I can work with. Major Volunteer, I'm Captain Drafted. Pleasure to meet you."
