Lincoln Grimes

(Here's another 'if they had a kid' meme creation for my Safe & Sound fic)

Personality: Kind. Often the exasperated voice of reason amongst the survivors. Empathetic. Principled; doesn't believe in killing people. Strives to maintain his humanity and morals that his family and extended family (Glenn, Maggie, etc.) have instilled in him over the years so murdering people just to take what they have is a huge no-no in his books. Intelligent. Organized; like his mother, he has backup plan after backup plan and makes sure he has supplies on him or stashed in a location he can get to just in case shit goes down and he's gotta move fast. Independent. Guarded. Vindictive; can and will become withdrawn and psychotically angry when his family is threatened or harmed. Tenacious.

Special Talents: Running. Despite his height and muscular build, Lincoln is actually quite fast. He'd learned how to be a supply runner by going with his mother, Glenn and a few others as soon as he was old enough. Since then, as time went on, he's surpassed all of them as the fastest runner. He's also very handy in close combat, able to adapt and kill walkers with a gun or whatever is nearby to get the job done. Collector; he's been an avid reader since he finally learned how to do it. Whenever he goes on runs, he grabs any books he can and has started to build a library in their community (he's not sure what he'll do if there's ever a time when they have to leave their home behind and start over somewhere else).

Who they like better: Annie. Let's be real – Judith is gonna be a total Daddy's girl and, while Carl does love Annie, his father will always be his go-to/number one. Lincoln loves his mom. When his father gets in one of his moods and he's unbearable to be around, Lincoln clashes and argues with him so much that that mere mention of Rick's name pisses him off. But his mother is always there to listen to him rant and vent. She doesn't judge him, just listens and accepts him as he is in that moment and proceeds to give him exactly what he needs: a hug with some good advice, or a swift kick in the pants with good advice.

Who they take after more: Lincoln is very mercurial. He and Rick are probably more alike than Lincoln would care to admit, hence why they butt heads so often, but I'd say he takes after his mother more. Like both his parents, he's loyal and protective over his family, adaptive (kind of a requirement in a zombie apocalypse), resilient (he hasn't lived as long as he has without being such) but, like his mother, he can be unforgiving to those that wrong him in some way, stubbornly obstinate in his opinions and actions, and very secretive.

Personal Head canon: Lincoln has looked up to his big brother Carl for as long as he could remember (cause Carl fucking lives, grows up, get married and has a daughter, just like in the fucking comics!). After all, there's this huge age gap between them – 15 years! – so Big Brother Carl was always one of the coolest people he'd ever known growing up. Now that he's older, he knows him better than anyone else. Even though he encourages Carl to take care of himself, Lincoln's often frustrated by his brother's fixation on placing his well-being above his own. Carl believes its his duty to protect his little brother, no matter what, while Lincoln would rather they both survive or Carl make it back home to his family. They tend to bicker often because of this. Even so, they're the best team amongst the survivors.
