Princess Miranda Henstridge

(Another 'character on the spot' creation)

Miranda felt like she was the last person in the world to find out her husband was dead.

She had just finished doing a public event, visiting a children's hospital, and was accosted by reporters on the way to her car. Well, reporters had been there anyway but one in particular had asked for a quote about her husband's death. Stunned into silence, her security had no choice but to throw her into the car and speed back to the palace. King Simon met her out front and, before she could even ask if it was true, Miranda was sobbing in his arms. The look on his face proof enough: Robert was dead.

Their marriage had never been perfect by any means. Sure, it looked that way to the public – a real life fairy tale romance – but the truth had been much simpler than that. They'd met a few times and the marriage had been arranged by their families as an ideal political alliance. Robert was handsome and the heir to the throne; she'd be Queen one day and that had been good enough for her family to secure their legacy. Love, or as close to it as Miranda could guess love was, came later. It seemed like they'd only just started getting into a routine when he had to leave. Now he was dead and Miranda was a widow. A widow pregnant with the heir to the throne, which Cyrus has stolen for himself in the wake of his brothers death. While Liam and Eleanor are deemed illegitimate, no one can deny her unborn baby is the next rightful heir.

Cyrus wants a war for the throne? Fine then, because its not just the fate of her and her baby on the line, but the legacy of King Simon as well and that is a legacy she refuses to let Cyrus tarnish.
