22: The Big Boss Appears

"We're so far away from the tower.... Why did we have to choose long way..." Naruto groaned as they trudged through the forest with Sasuke in tow.

"Quiet, I feel something." Sakura stops and grips her kunai. Turning around she threw it behind them into the forest.

Whack! The sound echoed. Three seconds passed. Nothing happened.

"Spotted me already?" In a split second, there was a rush of weapons and a figure was moving through the trees above them. Naruto shouted and jumped out of the way. Sakura swerved to the side and dodged a barrage of ninja stars, which landed on a tree behind her. Sakura kept Sasuke on her back and rushed over to Naruto. 

She quickly formed a pattern of hand-signs and created a shield over her and Naruto, whispering to him, "We're going to run when we have the chance, Sasuke is not going to get hurt." She said sternly; her eyes flickering around to assess the attacker.

What if it is him?

Sakura pressed her palms together and a sharp green glow emitted from her hands.

The razor palms, chakra that can slice through an opponent if attacked swift enough. Medic Ninja are taught this for self-defense, Regular ninjas usually don't learn this because they have a more variety of ninjutsu.

Sakura slowly separated her palms and surprisingly the chakra glow was still there. She turned her head to look at Naruto, "Follow me." She deadpanned, and then started to slowly pace her way towards the tower. Every few steps, she flicked a kunai forward in front of them or into a random spot in suspicion. Though a normal ninja may have never caught it, she heard a noise come from inside the trees. It was a hissing. A hissing like a snake.

Sakura swiftly grabbed her poisoned kunai from her pouch. Fear bubbled up in her stomach. Snakes, that couldn't be good. She heard a small noise come from behind her and she turned around at the speed of sound. She threw it so fast it was all a blur, it disappeared into the trees and there was a thunk. Sakura's fist tightened at her side, it missed. There was the hissing again, louder this time.

"You're quite the curious one..." A pale woman appeared out of the trees. She smirked and a large group of snakes slithered out of the bushes. They each had a particular glow to them, menacing chakra oozing out of them. The snakes slid quickly and hissed in warning as she threw a knife and missed. They started to attack the shield she put up. Sakura was too scared to open the shield to attack them. She looked at Sasuke who was slung over her shoulder, his face was contorted with discomfort. She looked at the snakes with resentment, feeling her shield start to crack.

"Naruto, I'm going to have the release the shield! You're going to have to flee!"

Naruto looked her nervously, "Stay safe, Sakura-chan!" She jumped into the air and threw a horizontal row of kunais at the woman, followed by a vertical row of ninja stars. The woman dodged and blocked with her kunai, making sharp clinking sounds when the knives bounced off. Sakura muttered a curse under breath. Naruto kicked and punched at the snakes, they started to gang up on him. Naruto started grabbing kunai and pelted them one after another. Feeling pressured, he performed hand-signs and summoned a dozen clones.

Battle cries pierced the air as all of the clones stampeded the snakes with weapons and barrages of kicks and punches. Snakes were injured in masses and they quickly disappeared. Every time a snake tried to get close to Sasuke, they killed it. The snake woman hissed angrily. Sakura jumped up and swung at the woman with all her might. She stopped herself from falling forward from the momentum by stomping onto the ground. The woman staggered from her blow, her neck bending awkwardly.

The snake woman hissed once more and raised her arms to grab at the girl. Sakura caught her by the collar. The snake woman pulled back her fist to punch but Sakura dodged. They widened their distance from each other and then pounced at each other again. Sakura managed to stab her in the back and then attempted to damage her shoulder with her razor chakra. But she only pierced a little before the woman shook her off and slammed her into the ground. Sakura let out a strangled cry and felt the wind get knocked out of her.

Sakura's eyes widened when she saw the stabs and the cuts she gave the woman. They didn't look like wounds at all. Rather, cracks. The woman's skin was was peeling off. Her skin... it wasn't her skin at all. The woman cackled and grabbed her face. Her skin started to stretch outwards until she tore off her skin, revealing a snake-like face with black hair, tongue slipping in and out like a snake. Orochimaru.

Orochimaru opened his mouth, revealing sharp and long fangs. He was slowly leaning in, Sakura could see a liquid forming on his fangs like a kind of chakra. Poison! Sakura let out a scream and broke free and scramble out of the crater, her skirt getting caught in his fangs; causing it to tear apart. She rushed over to Naruto, who was now being overwhelmed by the amount of enemy snakes there were surrounding him. Right before a snake behind Naruto could reach Sasuke, Sakura skit it's throat open with her razor chakra.

Sakura grabbed Sasuke and carried him princess-style she shouted a command at Naruto, "Let's get out of here, quick!" Naruto heard her and summoned more clones to distract the snakes and they hopped into a tree. Sakura gasped when she saw Orochimaru approaching the tree.

"You think you could get away from me that easily?" He licked his lips. Naruto sucked in his breath, Sakura tightened her grip on Sasuke and prepared to jump away from Orochimaru. "There's no parting until I give my gift to Sasuke-kun!" Orochimaru shouted as Naruto and Sakura began to make their escape.

Sakura and Naruto screamed when the ground rumbled and it started to crumble beneath the trees, Sakura landed on her side with Sasuke safely unharmed on top of her. (Although there was a few scratches on his arms and face.) She pushed Naruto up and they ran as hard as they could. But they got tired, and that made it worse.

Orochimaru was gaining up on them, throwing poisoned weapons at them in the process. Many times almost hitting Sakura. Orochimaru didn't seem to be targeting Naruto now since he noticed that Sakura has Sasuke.

Sakura looked back only to her horror to trip on a tree stem, Sasuke flailing out of her arms. Naruto gasped in horror.

Ok, sorry if this was a bit rushed. I'm in a hurry to get things done.
But I promise to have a lot of updates this summer! Hopefully finishing this book! Have a good summer!
