We arrived at Adriana's house, and I was beyond nervous. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was huge. Not a mansion, just a large family home in a big, expensive neighborhood like the ones people in shows lived in, despite the whole "struggling single mom" thing.
I didn't know much about her family, only that she has a twin and that her mom was very involved in their athletic lives. I had seen her at practices cheering them on a few times.
We made our way in, and I was completely amazed. We walked in past a living room and into another living room that lead us to the kitchen. I had my bag in one hand and was still in my practice clothes.
"Sit here, I'll get you some food," Adriana told me as she walked around the island to where all of kitchen essentials were.
"Yeah, okay, I'll see you next week. Love you!" I heard Ariana call. I assumed she was talking to her friend who must have been leaving. I paid her no mind and sat at the table, playing on my phone.
"Y/n/n, you can put your bag down in her room if you'd like," Ariana said.
"Oh, duh," I paused. "Umm, where is her room?"
"It's right by mine. Come on, I'll show you," she said leading me back down the few steps into the second living room that had the hall leading to the first. About half way down there was a staircase to my left, leading down, and 3 small doors on my right.
We went down the steps that ended up turning slightly. To my right was a set of glass doors with black curtains covering them. They were open and inside of the room was lavender and white. It had to be Ariana's room.
To my left was a small hallway that we ended up turning down. Half way down there was a bathroom, and at the end of the hall was Adriana's room.
Ariana walked inside first and sat on her sister's bed. "Set your stuff down anywhere, she won't mind."
I smiled and put my stuff down in front of a bean bag chair. I grabbed my chapstick and was about to apply it when it hit me.
I am alone. In my crush's room. With her identical twin sister.
I immediately became flustered. I couldn't breathe and heat quickly rushed to my feet.
"I'm gonna..." I said, pointing towards the door.
She nodded. "Tell her to bring me some when she's done.
"Course," I all but sprinted out of there and up the stairs, almost tripping over the cutest cat.
"Hi there cutie," I said, bending over to pet this little ball of love. She rubbed against my leg instantly, and I melted. I had completely forgotten what had just happened and where I was. I sat down beside the cat and she climbed onto my lap.
"I see Gin likes you," Adriana said, giggling quietly.
"She's so soft and sweet!" I said laughing. I continued to pet her.
"She doesn't really like people," Adriana said, making a weird face like she was thinking.
"What can I say? I'm a cat person."
"Well come on, The pasta is almost ready."
"Pasta? Like Spaghetti?"
She nodded and gently picked her cat up from my lap before helping me up.
"Spaghetti is my favorite!" I said, now completely ready to eat.
We quickly made our way to the kitchen, Gin right on our heels.
"Oh! Ariana told me to tell you to bring her some down," I said.
"And you tell me that after you finish your third bowl?!"
"What can I say? I have extra stomachs just for spaghetti." A scientific fact.
She laughed and quickly put some in a bowl. "Take it down to her. You need to shower. You reek!!"
"First of all, I don't smell any worse than you! Secondly, sweat is the smell of hard work and success thank you very much!" I said and we both laughed.
"Actually, sweat is the smell of weak deodorant. Put more on next time."
I flipped her off and grabbed the bowl, making my way down the steps.
"knock knock," I said, entering the open room. Ariana smiled when she saw the food in my hand. "Sorry, I got a little carried away before I remembered you asked for some. Spaghetti is my favorite!"
She laughed. "You're fine! I'm the same way when it comes to things that make me happy." A genuine smile crossed her face, and it was gorgeous.
"Not to be rude or anything, I'm just a little curious, but why are you in your sister's room and not yours?"
"Her tv has a better screen, and I don't like eating in my bed. Gray hides stains a lot better than lavender."
"That's a fair point." We both smiled. "I should probably hop into the shower, but I'll talk to you after?" They last part was definitely more of a question.
Sure, Ariana wasn't my friend, but she was easy to talk to. Obviously not easy enough for the whole 'I have a fat crush on your sister' conversation yet, but she just had this energy around her.
"Don't slip," she giggled as I walked out.
"I can't promise anything!" I called back making her actually laugh. Her laugh brought a smile to my face as I made my way to the bathroom.
After my shower, I made my way back into Adriana's room.
"Oh shut up!" I heard Adriana scream before she pushed Ariana off of her bed, both of them laughing. It reminded my of how I was with my sister. A small smile grew on my face until I remembered that she was gone. God I miss her.
They noticed that I had came in, and Ariana's laughter instantly intensified. I definitely missed something.
"Ignore the crackhead. I'll go get some snacks, you pick out a movie!" Adriana told me. I nodded and moved out of her way, setting my stuff down by her desk.
"She calls me the creakhead but she-"
"SHUT IT!!" Adriana cut her off from up the stairs.
We both laughed as I made my way over to the bed. "Need help up?" I offered my hand out.
She took it and thanked me before making her way out. "I'll see you tomorrow," she smiled and made her way down the hall to her own room.
"See ya," I replied.
