"Hey!" Adriana walked up to me, confusion written all over her face.
"Hey, sorry. I saw somebody I know."
She nodded and took my hand in hers while we walked out to the car.
In the car, I turned on the radio to avoid any questions about who I had run into, although I was sure Ariana would bring it up when they got home later.
Majority of the ride to my house was quite until I noticed that we had come to a stop, and it wasn't in my driveway.
"Umm, where are we?"
"We're getting ice cream."
"Oh, okay." I hopped out of the car and waited for her to join me.
We went in and got in line. We ordered, and I paid. Adriana shot me a dirty look for not even giving her the chance to buy her own, but I pretended not to see it.
We walked outside, and she sat down at one of the metal tables. I was ready to go home, but I sat down beside her anyway.
"What flavor did you get?" She asked.
"Icing on the Cake, you?"
"Mint Chocolate Chip."
I nodded my head and began eating my ice cream.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
"You seem off since I found you after using the bathroom."
"I'm fine." I smiled in an attempt to convince her, though I didn't think she bought it.
"Who did you run into?"
I couldn't lie. Ariana would tell her later, but I didn't want her to figure out that her sister was the reason I was in the dumps. Well, less of her sister and more of Austin. I decided it didn't matter. "Ariana, why?"
"Is that why you're down? Did she say something or...?"
I was happy she'd given me a way out. "It wasn't Ariana." Not technically a lie. "I'm just tired, that's all."
She nodded her head and stood. "I'll get you home then."
We made our way back to her car and remained in silence for the rest of the ride.
"Sorry I dragged you out for ice cream."
"No, you're good. I love ice cream."
"Promise?"
I smiled, a genuine smile, and looped my pinky around hers. "Promise."
We pulled up outside my house and she smiled at me. "I guess this is it."
"I guess it is."
"I'll walk you to your door."
"Oh, you don't have to do that."
"No, I want to. Come on."
We hopped out of the car and made our way to my house.
I unlocked my door and turned to Adriana. "You coming in? My mom loves you."
She laughed and bumped my shoulder playfully with hers. "Well I guess I can come in, but I'm only doing it for your mom. Don't get any ideas."
I shook my head at her and stepped out of her way to let her in.
She shut the door behind her and stood still.
"Ma, I'm home."
"Okay hun. How was it?"
"It was fun. Adriana is here with me, so we're going upstairs."
My mom came out from the kitchen and smiled big at Adriana. "It's lovely to see you again darling."
Adriana smiled big and hugged my mom. "It's good to see you too."
"Let's go." I made my way to my room, and Adriana followed behind me.
"It's nice in here, looks better when it's all unpacked."
"There's still a lot I need to get done."
She sat on my bed and patted beside her. "What do you want to talk about?"
"What do you mean?"
"You invited me in. We're just sitting. Was there not something you wanted to talk about?"
"No, I guess not."
"I'll get going then. I'm exhausted."
"Sorry."
"Don't be, its not a bad thing."
I nodded. "I'll walk you to the door."
She stood, and we made our way downstairs.
"See you tomorrow at the game?"
She smiled and nodded. "Tomorrow."
"Thanks for coming out with me tonight. I know it didn't end how we expected."
"I had a great time."
We stood and looked awkwardly at each other. It was like the uncomfortable scenes in the movies after the first date.
"I've got to get going. I'll see you."
"Yeah, see yo-"
She cut off my sentence with quick peck on my lips.
I froze immediately, unable to react. She looked at me like she was scared before quickly running to her car and starting the engine.
"Adriana," I called out, but I was too late.
She quickly pulled out of my driveway and away from my house, speeding down the street.
I stood there, dumbfounded at what had just happened. She had just kissed me.
I thought I was starting to get over my feelings for her, but the kiss proved me wrong. My head was spinning. Seeing Ariana with somebody else had confused me enough. Adriana kissing me was really just the icing on the cake.
