A hiatus fic that's only a little angsty. They're long-distance boyfriends, kind of.

Pete sat on his bed with his laptop open. It was almost eleven, and Patrick would be calling him soon. Thinking about his boyfriend made his heart ache with longing, and he went to his closet to grab a hoodie Patrick had left there before he went on tour. He pulled on the hoodie and brought the sleeve up to his nose. It still smelled like Patrick. He sat back down on his bed and waited.

Pete had remained in LA while Patrick was touring, mostly working with Bebe on their project. He didn't regret it, he was happy to be working with her and all, but...he missed his boyfriend.

Patrick was in Atlanta tonight, over two thousand miles away.

Pete missed him.

Did he mention he missed Patrick?

Pete pulled his laptop into his lap. Eleven thirty now. At the very least there would be footage from tonight's show up. Pete googled Patrick's name and smiled when he saw a video was already up.

Patrick was singing "Explode," one of Pete's favorites. He loved how energetic Patrick always was while singing it. He watched with a smile on his face as Patrick bounced up and down on stage and clapped along to his own song. The video was shaky, but Pete didn't mind. The person filming was probably too busy dancing to care.

Just as the video ended, Pete got an incoming call. He couldn't hit "answer" fast enough.

"Hey, babe!" Pete said with a grin.

Patrick smiled back at him. "Hey, Petey."

"I just saw a video from your show tonight. You were amazing, Patrick. You always are," Pete said softly, awe coloring his tone.

Patrick flushed. "Thanks." He squinted. "Hey, is that my hoodie?"

"Yeah. I got a little antsy waiting for you to call."

"Oh, okay. How was your day?"

Pete sat up a bit straighter. "Pretty good. Bebe and I got a few hours of studio time in, so that was fun. I miss you though."

"I miss you too. Do you think you're going to come out at some point?"

"I hope so." Pete sighed. "It's just a matter of our schedules lining up. I'd love to see you perform in person."

They talked for an hour about anything and everything. They talked about movies they'd seen, restaurants they'd eaten at, and books they'd been reading. Half past midnight, Patrick yawned. Pete could see his boyfriend's eyelids starting to droop, and his smiles were getting sleepy. Pete didn't want to hang up, but he knew Patrick needed his rest.

"I know I've already said this, but I miss you," Pete said while psyching himself up to say goodnight. "I wish I could hold you. When we're together I'm going to give you the biggest hug you've ever gotten in your entire life!"

Patrick laughed. "I'd love that, Petey." He smiled into the camera. "I love you."

"I love you too." Pete put his hand up to his screen, giggling when Patrick did the same.

"Do you want me to sing to you?" Patrick asked.

Pete shook his head. "That's okay, babe. Let your voice rest. Get some sleep." He took a deep breath. "I'll be here in the morning if you want to talk."

Patrick gave him a small smile. "Okay. Good night, Pete." Patrick blew him a kiss.

Pete blew one back. "Good night, Patrick."

Patrick gave him one last smile and hung up. Pete sighed. He still missed his boyfriend.

Oh well.

He plugged in his laptop and laid down. He didn't bother taking off the hoodie.
