Jack's POV

I woke up to Lavender crying. I quickly got out of bed and picked her up out of her crib. I bounced her in my arms for a little bit but that wasn't working. I gave her a soother but she was still sobbing.

I walked downstairs and set her in her high chair. I went to the fridge and searched for her milk bottle but I couldn't find it. She kept sobbing loudly.

"Lav, I'm going as fast as I can, calm down," I mumbled to myself. "Hey G-," I cut myself off quickly. Gabbie died while giving birth to Lavender, the funeral was a week ago.

Tears fell down my cheeks as I continued to search for the bottle.

Lavender dropped her soother and cried out louder. I picked up the soother and gave it back to her, she still wasn't calming down. I leaned against the counter as I started crying. I can't do this.

I saw Jonah walk down the stairs, he went over to the fridge and took out Lavender's bottle then handed it to her, instantly calming her down. Then he came over to me and hugged me tightly.

"It's ok Jack," he whispered. I hugged him tightly and cried into his chest. He gently rubbed my back and held me close.

When I calmed down we pulled away and I wiped my tears. "What's wrong?" Jonah asked quietly.

"I don't know how I'm supposed to do this Jo, I can't take care of her without Gabbie," I said then started crying again. Jonah hugged me tightly again and rubbed my back.

"It's ok Jack, it's ok to feel like that. But you are already such an amazing father towards Lavender. And if you ever need any help then the boys and I are here for you, and I'm sure all of our families will love to take care of Lav, don't worry," he soothed. I pulled away from the hug and nodded.

"Thank you Jo," I said as I wiped away my tears.

"You're welcome Jack. Want me to sleep with you so I can take care of Lav for the night?"

"No, it's ok," I replied.

"Well too bad, I don't want you to have to wake up again to take care of her," he said gently.

"She's not your responsibility though, I'll feel bad if she makes you get up."

"That's ok, you need your sleep," he replied. I finally gave in and nodded. Jonah smiled. "Ok, you go to bed, I'll burp her and put her to sleep."

I nodded then walked upstairs. I quietly went into my room and laid down on the bed, covering myself with the sheets.

About 10 minutes later Jonah walked in holding lavender. He gently kissed her forehead then laid her down in her crib. He smiled at her then got into bed beside me. I turned around to face him and I smiled.

"Thank you," I whispered.

"You're welcome Jack, go to sleep," he instructed. I nodded then slowly drifted off to sleep.

I woke up a few hours later to cries from Lavender. Jonah quickly got out of bed and walked over to her crib, he picked her up and bounced her gently. "Shh Lav, we don't want to wake up daddy," he whispered with a smile. I smiled as I watched him with Lavender. He kept bouncing her and gave her a soother before she finally fell asleep in his arms.

I smiled again as he gently kissed her cheek and placed her in her crib again.

He quietly got back into bed and I smiled as I fell asleep once again.

I woke up at 9:00 am to see that Lavender and Jonah weren't in my bedroom anymore.

I got out of bed and walked downstairs to see Jonah holding Lavender in his arms as they watched cartoons on the t.v. I smiled and walked over to them, sitting beside Jonah.

"You know you can watch whatever you want, she doesn't understand yet," I said with a smile.

"Yeah, but we gotta start her early," Jonah replied. I smiled then looked at Lavender, she had a huge smile on her face.

"Want me to take her?" I asked Jonah.

"No, you go get yourself a nice breakfast, have a shower, and get ready. Take as long as you need, I can take care of her," he replied. I smiled and nodded.

I quickly ate breakfast then had a shower and brushed my teeth.

I walked back downstairs to see Jonah singing 'Lavender's blue' to Lavender. I smiled and walked over to them.

"I think she likes that song," I said quietly. Jonah looked up at me and smiled.

"Yeah, me too," Jonah replied.

"I can take her now," I told him. He nodded then gently placed Lavender in my arms. I smiled down at her as she giggled at me. I kissed her forehead gently and she smiled.

I sat down on the couch with Lavender in my arms. I smiled at her then at Jonah.

I placed Lavender on the floor with toys, pillows, and a blanket so she could have some play time.

I sat back down beside Jonah and smiled at him. "Thank you for everything Jo," I said gently.

"You're welcome Jack," he replied. We slowly leaned in until our lips were connected, moving slowly in sync. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling myself closer. He smiled and pulled my waist closer.

When we eventually pulled away we put our foreheads together and smiled. "Will you be mine Jack? If you're not ready to move on I understand," he said as we pulled our foreheads away. He gently held my hands and rubbed the back of them with his thumbs.

"No, I think I'm ready, but can we take it slow?" I asked shyly.

"Of course, so is that a yes?"

"Yes," I answered. I hugged Jonah tightly and placed my head into his neck and smiled.

When we finally pulled away from the hug I cuddled my body into his side and smiled down at Lavender.

This is what Gabbie would have wanted.
