Journal - Zaniel

Zach's POV

For the past few months I've been writing in a journal about my feelings. Not just any feelings. My feelings for my best friend. I've loved Daniel since forever, and because I don't have a chance I write letters to him in my secret journal. Nobody has ever read it but me, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I finished writing today's letter then put it in the top of my closet. I laid on my bed and sighed. He'll never know.

*the next day*

"Do you guys want to grab some food?" Jonah asked.

"Sure!" We all answered. Daniel started walking upstairs to grab something.

"Daniel, could you grab me a sweatshirt?" I asked.

"Sure!" he replied.

Daniel's POV
I walked into Zach's room and opened the closet, a book immediately fell out. I picked it up and got curious, so I opened it to the first page.

April 1st 2018
Daniel,
I know you're never going to see this but I need to get this out. I love you. As in more than a friend. As of right now I haven't come out as gay, but I'm hoping to soon. It's your birthday tomorrow, I want to make it special, but then it'll just be awkward. I just got a gift card, I hope that works. Anyways, I gotta go.

I put the book down in shock. Zach loves me?

"Daniel, you coming?" Zach shouted.

"Yeah one minute!" I shouted back. I quickly shoved the notebook under his pillow and grabbed a random hoodie before running downstairs.

I gave Zach the hoodie and he laughed.

"What took you so long?" he asked.

"I didn't know what hoodie you wanted," I replied with a shrug.

"Oh Dani," he said, shaking his head. "Let's go, they're waiting."

I nodded then we left the house.

*after food*

When the boys got home Daniel had to confess to Zach.

"Hey Zach? Could I talk to you for a second?" Daniel asked his younger friend.

"Yeah sure," Zach replied. Zach walked over to Daniel in the kitchen and they sat down beside each other. "What's up?"

"When I was getting your hoodie, I found a book, and I read the first page," Daniel explained. Zach thought about what book it was until he suddenly realized.

"No no no no no no, this can't happen. Why would you read my journal? That's private information Daniel," Zach shouted at him.

"I-I'm sorry Zach," Daniel said quietly with his head down.

"Sorry doesn't cut it! You shouldn't have read it," Zach shouted again.

"I'm sorry," Daniel whispered. Zach shook his head then ran upstairs in a panic. Now Daniel knows about his feelings. He walked around his room while pulling at his hair, what is he going to do?

Daniel got off of the stool and started crying, he felt terrible. He never meant to read it, but he found it and curiosity got the best of him.

Daniel walked to the living room and collapsed onto the couch sobbing.

"Dani, what's wrong?" Jonah asked as he hugged the smaller boy.

"Zach hates me," he sobbed.

"Why?"

"I read his journal, I didn't mean to, I promise! My curiosity got the best of me and I read it, I feel terrible," Daniel sobbed.

"Shh Dani, he'll get over it," Jonah said, rubbing the younger boy's back.

"It was about me Jo."

"What do you mean it was about you?"

"The journal was a bunch of notes to me, they were love notes," Daniel sobbed. "Shit, I shouldn't have told you."

"My lips are sealed Dani, don't worry."

Daniel nodded then continued crying into Jonah.

Zach's POV
When I finally calmed down I heard crying downstairs, I recognized it as Daniel's cry. I walked out of my room and down the stairs into hearing range of the living room.

All I heard was Daniel crying and Jonah comforting him. The sound of Daniel crying broke my heart, I hate seeing him upset.

I slowly walked into the living room and Jonah looked at me with a small smile.

'Switch' I mouthed. He nodded then we switched places. I held Daniel close to me and he looked up at me then started crying more.

"Shh Dani," I said while rubbing his back.

"I read your journal, you can't forgive me," he sobbed.

"Dani it's ok, I forgive you. I'm sorry for yelling at you, I didn't mean to," I said soothingly. Daniel kept crying into my chest and I just gently rubbed his back and played with his hair.

When he finally calmed down he stayed in my arms for a while, this is what always happens when he gets anxiety. He likes being held and comforted. "It's ok Dani," I whispered.

He slowly pulled away and looked up at me, his eyes were red and puffy. He quickly smashed his lips onto mine, causing both of us to smile.

I pulled him closer and took as much of his body as I could into my arms. He smiled and wrapped his arms around my neck.

We slowly pulled away and smiled at each other. "Will you be mine Dani?" I asked.

"Of course Zachy," he replied. I smiled then planted a soft kiss on his forehead.

He laid his head against my chest and I wrapped my arms around him. I noticed he slowly fell asleep.

"ZANIEL ZANIEL!" The Guys came in cheering.

"Shut up he's sleeping," I scolded. They all 'aww'd at us and I rolled my eyes.

I gently kissed the top of Daniel's head and smiled. "I love you."
