It had been a week since that night with Shu. I woke up feeling refreshed and sat up. I looked around to see myself in my room. I checked the time and got up, heading to the bathroom.

I finished brushing my teeth and hair and walked out in formal wear. I walked out of my room and headed to the kitchen, entering and looking for a water bottle.

Shu had not wanted me to take those pills, so I didn't. I was here to guarantee my marriage to him so what he thought mattered.

I couldn't find the water bottle so I decided to grab a glass of water in simple replacement. I grabbed a cup and some water from the water pitcher, pouring the cool liquid into the cup.

"There you are!" I heard a high pitched voice speak.

I turned around to see Yui.

Yui and I were on good terms, although she was slowly becoming a tad bit annoying, I dealt.

"Hey, Yui," I greeted before taking a sip of water. "What's up?" I asked more casually than I normally would in any other circumstance.

She came up to me and grabbed my wrist, pulling me away from the kitchen, making me quickly place my cup down before I could accidentally spill it.

"I need to speak to you in private!" she said in the same high pitched voice.

We arrived in the library and she let my hand go.

I stopped in my tracks, completely in awe of the library before me. I had always loved reading, one of my biggest hobbies to be precise.

"Sapphire! Come on!" I heard Yui again.

I walked to her while still admiring the library as she was sitting by a window and I sat by her.

"What's wrong, Yui?" I asked her, tearing my eyes away from the extravagant library in front of me.

She smiled lightly and looked at me. "You're Shu's fiancé, right?" she asked suddenly.

"Well, I mean. It's complicated right now, I mean he said he would never—"

"So you're not getting married?" she asked, interrupting me mid word.

I looked at her confused until I saw the hope in her eyes. That's when it finally registered; Yui liked Shu. "I mean, I guess you could say no," I said kind of nervously. "Why do you ask?" I asked her, already knowing the answer to come.

She looked down at her lap and fiddled with her fingers. "Well.. I kind of really like Shu," she said, her eyes still looking down.

My eyes go slightly wide in shock. Although it was a suspicion, actually hearing her say it sent a different type of surprise through me. "Do you know if Shu likes you back?" Her response to this question would determine what I have to do next. I still hadn't decided what I needed to do to get Shu to marry me. Her response could either help me or possibly ruin me.

"I don't know. He's been hanging around me a lot lately," she said shyly, a hint of a blush coating her cheeks.

I turned away in thought. Now that I thought about it. Me and Shu hadn't interacted at all in the past week. He would only come to me for blood. He might've said all that because he had feelings for Yui.. it disappointed me, I thought.

"Anyway, thanks for letting me know, Sapphire!" she says happily as she practically skipped away and out of the library.

My eyes stayed glued to where she was just sitting. I can't continue being shy anymore, it's not helping. I let my thoughts sink in.

I would have to break out of my shell, my wall. The one I'd built for so long to not get hurt or attached.

My mind was conflicting itself.

I needed to do what I used to do, be myself, not the shy me... I had to learn to protect myself and complete my task. It seemed simple enough, should be easy, I'd be acting like the me that didn't go through the past few years.

"What are you thinking so hard about, Little Slut?" Laito asked from right beside me.

"Something. Anyway, you came here for something, it isn't my blood so what's up?" I asked more confidently than usual. Slowly but surely, I reassured myself.

The brothers had already found out what my real blood tasted like, and decided that it wasn't as good as Yui's. So Shu would be the only one to drink from me.

"I heard you playing the piano at school on your first day here," he rejoiced.

I blushed at the thought of someone hearing my playing. "Yes, and...?" I said shyly, looking down at my feet.

"I wanted you to come play with me," he said, extending his hand for me to take.

I looked at it with wide eyes. He's the first one to not force me to do something by yanking me by the wrist. I liked the feeling of deciding. I put my hand in his and stood up. "Okay," I said, looking at him with a small smile.

He nodded and lead me out of the library.
