"No!" His eyes snapped to me, and his sadness rose to anger. "You don't get to take her away from me!"

"I don't think she wants to be with you." I shot back. "She is an amazing, beautiful girl, whose been, so it seems, ignored for far to long. Maybe you should take a step back, and see what you've done."

His teeth clenched and that's when I noticed Steve and Clint holding him back.

"Cooper, it's not worth it. Let's just go." I watched as Clint's face slipped to confused, and sadness.

I ignored their faces, as I noticed it wasn't just Clint, and we finally made our way out of SHIELD. We were silent for a majority of the way, and we walked to our favorite cafe, and sat down. She held her coffee tightly, as if it might slip away if she loosened her grip in the slightest. It wouldn't.

"I know your story, I think. Now you should know mine." Her voice cracked.

"River, you don't have too.." I grasped her hand from across the table lightly.

She sighed, and began.
