I see the light of the golden sun beam down onto her face. She illuminates the world. My world, at least. I walk over to her, joining her on the wooden bench. I look out across the meadow, as it's late after noon, and the sun is beginning to sink below the mountains. Her poppy colored dress flows from her shoulders down to her ankles, wrapped around her beautiful body, revealing her wonderful curves. She reaches out and takes my face in her gentle hands, softy caressing my cheeks. She looks down at my lips, and then meets my eyes again. My heart beat begins to speed up, as she leans in closer. Her eyes close, and I do the same. Our lips are about to collide-

"David!" Jen says, making me jump.

I look around, and everyone is staring at me in awe.

"Wha- What happened?!" I ask nervously.

Courtney, who is on my left, whispers in my ear.

"You said Jennifer while you were asleep." She informs me.

My eyes go wide, as well as blushing a dark crimson.

"Oh, I was uh-thinking about all of you guys!" I cover, pointing to everyone.

They return with strange looks.

"I don't remember my name ever being Jennifer!" Matty jokes.

Jen rubs my arm, smiling.

"It's okay, I think it's cute that you were dreaming about me! I don't really care, as long as they are just dreams!" She laughs, poking me.

I try and join in with the laughter, but it just comes out as a weird, nervous, chuckle.

2 HOURS LATER

COURTENEY'S POV

Lisa and I are in my dressing room, as everyone else is playing foosball on the set of Joey and Chandler's apartment, while the crew adjusts the lighting for the next scenes. We are talking about David, and how he has feelings for Jen. I think it's weird to like a colleague a lot. I don't really know how Lisa feels though.

"So what do you think about David and his feelings for Jen?" I ask, concerned.

She smiles at me.

"It's just a phase. It's probably just physical, not emotional. He probably only thinks she's hot and wants to have sex with her, not deep feelings or whatever!" She replies.

I strongly disagree.

"No, I don't think that's true. He seems really...afraid. He seems afraid she'll find out and stop talking to him. I overheard him saying he's never had a friend as close as Jen before. And honestly, the way he looks at her and pays so much attention to every detail about her is adorable." I add.

Lisa looks surprised.

"So do you think he's going to fall in love with her?" Lisa asks me.

Huh.

"Definitely."

1 WEEK LATER, ON CENTRAL PERK SET. STILL COURTNEY'S POV

Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since we first met! I feel so at home with the other five. I'm really close with Jen and Matty though. Jen and I love talking during lunch, while we eat our salads together.

"Should I set David up with someone? I met this lovely woman I think he'll really like!" Jen announces, while crunching on her salad.

I shake my head.

"I don't really think he's in that place, if you understand. He likes being alone; he's used to it." I reply.

She looks like she disagrees.

"I don't know, he just seems lonely, like he wants someone to be there. I think he's lacking something- a relationship!" Jen says, excitedly. I frown.

"Alright, do whatever you want." I say, finalizing the conversation.

STILL ON SET, AROUND 8. DAVID'S POV

I'm sitting across from Jen on the couch in 'Central Perk'. She talking to me about some of her friends from back home.

"-So, Jenna just starts laughing because Jacob looked at the naked man on the diagram and went, 'well I guess he's not Jewish.' It was so funny!" (This actually happened to me, If you get what I mean by the story. 😏)
She's so sweet when she laughs about past stories. I really love how she's so...perfect. Life wouldn't be the same without her. I can't imagine anyone else playing the role of Rachel. After a few more anecdotes, she stops and gives me a serious look.

"So, how's your love life?!" She giggles, poking my chest.

I try and give her a reassuring smile.

"To be honest, it doesn't exist. But I'm okay, I've never really needed anyone else in my life. I've always been alone, so I guess I don't care anymore. I'm fine." I inform.

She looks disappointed in me.

"David! You should really try! I mean, the perfect woman for you might be someone you already know, but you aren't thinking about love, so you miss the opportunity!"

Yeah, she's right. The woman I love is someone I already know.

"Look, I know a really intelligent woman, who you'll just love! I promise! I'll set you two up right now!" She squirms excitedly as she stands up.

I reach out, grab her shoulder, and pull her back down onto the couch.

"I don't want to go on a date-" she interrupts.

"You're just nervous! It's okay, she loves guys like you!" She consoles.

I'm not nervous. Oh god. So not true. Well, partially true.

"No! It's not that. It's just I..." I begin.

She places her hands on her hips and gives me an impatient look.

"I like someone else, alright? There's this woman, who've I've... recently taking a liking to." I quietly announce.

Jen gives me a confused look.

"Aww! David likes somebody!!" She keeps poking me and then finally stops, "Whatever, well then ask her out!" She leaps.

"No, I can't." I reply, desperately.

She looks at me with her forgiving eyes. She reaches out and gently places her hand on my shoulder.

"Does she have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"Is she way older or way younger than you?"
"No."
"Is she gay?"
"No!"
"Then why can't you ask her out?"
"Because I'm afraid to."

I look down at my hands, and fumble with my fingers.

"It's complicated. She only thinks of me as a friend, and definitely does not have any feelings whatsoever for me. There are so many factors that could go wrong, and I don't want to lose her. She's very important to me." I open up, trying to be as vague as possible.

She sighs. I feel her move her arm, so it's across both of my shoulders. She looks at me with consoling eyes, before bringing me in for a tender hug. I feel her whisper send shivers down my body. Once again, I blush.

"Don't be afraid of love."
