Erratic: Chapter 5: Meeting Kendra

A week into our 2-week long holiday, our group of friends decided to go bowling today. As usual, not all of us could go because some already made some plans just like Bree, Kandice, Michael, Daniel and others. Today it’s just Lilliane, Samantha, Theo, Beau, Chase, Nathan, Athena, Andre, Mason and I. Apparently, Mason invited his cousin who went to SBC last year but then moved schools.

I've been trying my hardest to ignore Chase and I'm succeeding and it also looks like he doesn't care about me ignoring him either so it's a win-win situation. By the way, Lilliane and I made up the night when we ‘fought’, of course I was the one who apologized and I still didn't explain what happened but at least now here we are being close friends once again.

Once we arrived at the last two bowling alleys of the bowling place, Mason's phone rang and he left us to go and get his cousin, I think. We all got our bowling shoes on and just chatted until a girly voice interrupted us. I turned around to see a blonde haired and blue-eyed girl around my age beside Mason, so this is the cousin. "Hi guys!!" She shrieked and then went ahead and gave Chase a hug and a smooch on the cheek, which I could see that he didn't really enjoy.

I awkwardly stood there beside Lilliane because I don't feel that comfortable around her, there's something wrong with her aura towards me but who am I to judge, I literally just knew her a few minutes ago. "Oh hello! You must be Lilliane, I'm Kendra." Kendra smiled at her and hugged her, she then turned towards me and said "and you, you're Macy. I'm Kendra,” she said as she hugged me tightly, too tight actually. She seems really friendly and one of those people that you could keep a conversation forever and that's pretty nice.

"So let's go and play?" Kendra offered. We all set up whoever was going against whom (the girls are against each other and the boys are against one another) and then we started playing. I'm not that bad at bowling, I would hit a gutter once or twice but that's just because of my loss of concentration, so I paid really close attention on my turns because I'm actually against really good bowlers and also, I wouldn't want to embarrass myself would I? All of us weren't competitive at all, we cheered each other on and we scream whenever someone gets a spare or a strike. (The other people in the bowling place didn't find amusing because we were quite loud)

It was now Kendra's turn along with Chase's, I saw Kendra wink at Chase and whisper something to him, which caused Chase to frown, before Kendra went and bowled. I was quite shocked with the wink, like woah, where did that come from? And what did she whisper that caused him to frown? I don't even know I'm so confused. I looked over at Theo and she was staring at the scoreboard, Theo would know something right? I'm not sure but it's worth a shot asking. 

"Hey Theo, do you know anything about Kendra and Chase?" I asked quietly.

Theo inverted her attention towards me and said, "Well, last year, Kendra and Chase had a history."

"So they were once together?" 

"No. Chase has never had a girlfriend before. Chase always insisted that they weren't together and that nothing's going on or that there will never be a 'them', on the other hand, Kendra rambles about their sweet moments together but then she goes and denies everything whenever Chase is around, she even said ew and yuck." She stated as she rolled her eyes. That is surprising information for me. Chase never had a girlfriend? I thought he had a couple of girlfriends before?

"You don't like her do you? Why?" I pushed on.

"Well, she isn't exactly your perfect princess, she's actually quite fake and used us. We were never close with her but then she suddenly popped out of nowhere and persuaded us to help her get close to Chase. It was like if we didn't help her, we would regret being alive." Theo sighed.
