Daniel walked up to the Lovie's apartment door holding yet another bouquet of flowers. He was dressed in a suit, but with no tie so it came off as casual. He took a deep breath before knocking on her door.

"Hey Daniel." Lovie smiled stepping out to the hallway. She was wearing a little black body con dress touching her knees. It was simple but came off very sexy because it showed her curves.

Daniel stared at her in awe, he never saw anyone look so good. "Hello Lovie, you look amazing." he managed to get out before the awkward silence got too awkward.

"Thank you, so you do." Lovie blushed moving the small hair from her face.

"These are for you." Daniel smiled handing her the flowers he'd been holding for a minute now. Lovie reached to grab them, slightly touching Daniel's fingers.

"Thank you, they look beautiful." taking a big whiff, Lovie and Daniel proceeded to leave her building and head to his car.

"So where are we going?" Lovie asked now sitting in Daniel's car.

"We're going to one of my favorite Mexican restaurants then I figure we go for a walk." Lovie nodded.

"That sounds really nice."

Looking over slightly, Daniel exhaled in releif "I'm glad you like it. I was mad nervous that you wouldn't like it."

"Really? You don't seem like the nervous type."

Shrugging Daniel responded "I normally don't get nervous, but I was this time."

"Aww, well it happens to the best of us." Lovie reassured as they pulled up to the restaurant. They were seated immediately, and gave their food and drink orders.

"So, I'll let you go first. Ask me anything Lovie" Daniel started after taking a sip of his water. Lovie nodded giving Daniel direct eye contact."Umm, how old are you?"

"25"

"Any kids?"

"Not yet."

"Where are you from?"

"Queens, New York."

"Any siblings?"

"Yes, four sisters and two brothers."

"Wow that's a lot" she chuckled.

"Yeah, they all crazy." he smiled. Lovie took a brief pause.

"When your birthday?"

"March 21st."

She wasn't stuck on the next question, but she did feel awkward asking it. "Did you plan on having sex with me tonight?"

Nearly chocking on chip he placed in his mouth, Daniel took a big sip of water again before answering. "Wow that went left, but no it wasn't on my mind."

"So if I were to look in your pocket there wouldn't be a condom in there?" Lovie asked. Daniel, who hadn't broke eye contact with her, besides to get a drink, looked shocked.

"Woah Lovie we gotta settle this upfront. I'm not judging your past or the men you've been with before me, but I'm not it. Don't associate me like that." he spoke sternly. Daniel was a very prideful person, you could tell that he was actually a little upset at her response.

Lovie sighed "I'm sorry. I was having a discussion with my class and they were talking about sex on the first date. I just couldn't shake it because this is our first date." Before he could respond, their food had came, they took a couple of bites before the conversation continued.

"I understand, but why are you talking to your literature class about sex?"

"We have real talk sessions at the end of class where they can ask anything." she smiled.

"That's so dope."

"Yeah, I love them so much."

"I see, but don't have them filling your head with bad stuff about me."

"I won't, but just so we're clear. I don't have sex on the first date, that's not me." Lovie reiterated.

"And just so we're clear, I move how you move. I don't force anything." nodding Lovie and Daniel finished their meal and left.

Battery Park

"So your entire class knows about me?" Daniel asked as they strolled the long pathway lit with the street lights.

"They know you asked me out, they know about your flowers, they helped me pick out this dress." Lovie explained.

Daniel couldn't help but chuckle at how invested her class was "Wow, they are very opinionated."

"Yeah it's mainly my two top students, Daquan and Olivia. They bicker like crazy, it was them two that made me bring up having sex tonight."

"Did they approve?"

"Daquan did, Olivia said no."

"But what do you think?" Daniel asked.

"The next person I have sex with, I would like to be my boyfriend, fiancé, husband maybe." she shrugged.

"So it sound like someone is practicing celibacy?" Daniel chuckled.

"Yeah you can say that."

"Well I respect that."

"Thank you Daniel." Lovie smiled. They continued to circle the park again, sharing old college stories and family vacation memories. They talked and talked and talked until it got super late.

"Umm it's getting pretty late and my feet are killing me." Lovie added.

"Yeah, let's get you home, you need me to carry you?"

"Can you?" Lovie pleaded, Daniel chuckled as he reached under her legs to lift her bridal style.

"Sorry, I'm a little plump."

"Oh hush no you're not." he chuckled placing me in the passenger side of his car. Daniel drove back to Lovie's place. Pulling into the parking lot of Lovie's apartment, Daniel stepped out to walk her to her place.

"Daniel, can you carry me again?"

"Yeah, I got you." he chuckled lifting her again. He made his way to her apartment door, Lovie tightly holding on around Daniel's neck. Once at her front door, Daniel stood her up.

"Thank you for the amazing night Daniel."

"Thank you for letting me take you out, maybe we can do it again?"

"Yeah, I would love that."

Lovie remained outside of her door. There was silence but not awkward silence between them. Every time they made eye contact, they would giggle.

Daniel smiled as he pulled Lovie in gently by the waist.

"What are you doing?" she questioned.

"I'm about to kiss you." Daniel responded. He slowly cupped one hand under her chin, pulling her closer to his face. Lovie's heart was beating fast, she was nervous. Standing awkwardly close to him she didn't move one bit. As their lips started to touch Lovie's front door opened.

"Dude come on, you gotta have better game than that!" They both jumped in fear.

"Daquan?"
