"I hope you guys had a great weekend, we're moving from poetry onto one of my favorite books, Beloved, an inspirational story about a slave escaping slavery."
"Dang Ms.Jones, we went from love to slavery?" Olivia spoke.
Chuckling as she passed out the books to the class "I know it seems like a shift but once you read the book, you'll see a bit of love there."
"How was your date with Mr.Simmons?" she asked smiling. "It was really good." Lovie responded.
"Did ya'll have sex?" Daquan asked, he had been quiet the majority of the class besides his occasional few jokes.
"No we didn't nosey." She smiled.
"Well you should've, he seems like a really cool dude."
"That doesn't mean anything, it takes more than being a good person." Olivia refuted.
"You'd be surprised what a really good person could do to your life girl." Daquan responded.
Lovie looked at him and smiled as he stared at Olivia.
"Yeah, Daquan is correct, but there's no need to rush. I like taking my time." I spoke.
"I think that's great Ms.Jones."
"Thank you Olivia." After our class discussion and school had ended, Daquan was waiting at my car.
"Hey kid." Lovie smiled unlocking the car door.
"Hey Ms.Jones." He responded getting in on the passenger side.
"Are you doing okay? You seemed a little quiet today."
"Yeah I'm cool." He shrugged "Just been thinking a lot."
"Thinking about what?"
Daquan twiddled his fingers and then let out a nervous laugh. "You won't believe me when I say it, but Olivia."
Trying not to show much emotion Lovie just nodded and kept her eyes on the road.
"Do you like her?"
"A little, but I'm not her type so it'll remain just a little crush."
"Okay but how is that effecting your behavior so much?"
"Can I keep it a hunnid?" He asked, Lovie nodded.
"I be like, daydreaming about her."
Not even thinking, Lovie let out her immediate response, which was a big "Awww!"
"Oh my God." Daquan chuckled rubbing his hand through his curly hair. "I knew I shouldn't have said nothing."
"You have a high school crush, it's cute Daquan." Lovie squealed. "There's nothing wrong with that."
"So just play it cool?"
"Yes, and get back to the normal Daquan, so she don't suspect anything." Pulling up to the apartment, Daquan went inside and started doing his homework. Lovie locked up and stood outside to make a call.
"Hey Lovie"
"Daniel, he likes her!" She squealed bouncing up and down in her black pumps.
"Daquan likes Olivia?"
"Yes!"
"I knew it." He chuckled. "Is he there listening to you?"
"No he went up to start his homework."
"Aww don't talk about my mans behind his back."
"I can do whatever I want and besides, he don't care."
