"welcome back handsome. i see you've brought a visitor here today." jaemin slightly jutted his chin to the taller male that took a seat next to jeno.

"yeah, he's my uncle."

the bartender's smile only grew to mask the anger he felt coursing through his body at the very mention of the word 'uncle'. a familiar feeling came boiling up in his stomach, but sadly, he'd have to wait a while until he could be alone.

"is that so? it's a pleasure to meet you sir. the name's jaemin." jaemin held his hand out for a handshake and johnny took it willingly, his friendly nature clashing with the male's hidden vexation.

"johnny. it's a pleasure to meet you too."

once jaemin pulled his hand away, his focus was back on jeno, "what would you like today?"

"the same as yesterday, and he'll get a glass of cheongju."

"okay coming right up!" jeno watched jaemin disappear into the back again and he unconsciously left his eyes there for quite a while.

the taller male noted jeno's longing stares directed towards their bartender, leading him to think that there was something going on between the two. he'd just have to observe a bit more to be sure.

the bar today was less crowded than the night before. there were more people who sat down at the tables that were just conversing and having a drink. the whole place seemed like a nice cafe that played live jazz music. well, that's how jeno perceived it.

with the older design, he found it quite homey. a place he could always come back to after a rough day.

after jaemin came back with their orders, johnny went off to socialize with the crowd of strangers while jeno stayed back to talk to jaemin.

"i see you couldn't get enough of me since you came back." the younger commented, a grin pulling at his lips.

"i guess i couldn't." jeno admitted, a blush appearing on his cheeks.

"that's good, because i couldn't get enough of you either handsome." jaemin propped up both of his elbows onto the counter and rested his head on his palms.

the latter's entrancing stare and words made jeno fall deeper into this hole that he didn't even knew that he was in. just his pretty eyes, pearlescent saccharine smile that could possibly blind him, and absolutely alluring personality made jeno want to hand over his heart right then and there.

"say, would you like to hang around town tomorrow with me? if you're free that is. i only work a bit in the morning so we can go after my shift ends."

jeno's eyes brightened at the suggestion, "let's! since we just became friends, i think it's best to get to know each other better."

"i would rather call it a date, but i guess a get-to-know hang out is more fitting."

by the time jaemin found his way back to his apartment, his need to kill was at its peak already. flashes from the past only fed into his urges. once he got his hands on a knife, he changed into an attire that blended well into the night.

before heading out, he stopped and looked at himself in the mirror.

his eyes seemed hollow and dead, void of any emotions whatsoever. it was just cold and empty. he'd look like a corpse if if weren't for his slightly tanned skin and bright colored hair. it's been like this for as long as he could remember, and he hasn't seen any means of change so far.

the night went by in a blur, only stopping in the moment where the kill was made. again, it was in an alleyway, and this time, it was a lady using the alleyway as a shortcut. a stupid decision jaemin would say so himself.

but, nonetheless, a target was a target.

"hey miss?" he called out, voice sounding lost and small.

the woman turned back and saw jaemin not too far from her. she had noticed him before and thought that he was a stalker of sorts, but for some reason, once he spoke she felt safe again.

"yes? what's wrong honey?" she asked, a tone of concern in her voice.

"i-i got lost and i kind of don't know where i am..."

"oh my, come follow me. i'll let you use my phone once we get better reception okay?"

"okay." jaemin's grip tightened onto the knife in his pocket, his heart rate picking up as she walked closer to him.

once she was a good distance, a quick but deep slash was made across her throat. before she could scream, her hands were already reaching for her neck while her stance became unbalanced. she choked up a bit, spilling blood from the corners of her mouth as she fell to the ground. her eyes reflected pure terror that made jaemin feel the wave of excitement wash over him.

the pink haired male just stood there and watched like he always would, letting the pleasure sink into his system. he crouched down and raised her chin with the tip of his bloodied knife. a sick smirk was spread across his face as he watched the female's life slip away from her.

a few more jerks of movement and then she fell still.

"you shouldn't trust strangers that easily miss." he muttered mockingly, taking out the knife from under her chin.

for the next minute, he hummed a joyous tune while he carved his signature onto the woman's cheek.

"jAEMIN! ARE YOU OKAY?!"

it was the next day and jeno practically high tailed out of the station to the bar. once he heard news about another kill from the night before, all that was on his mind was that if the pink haired bartender was okay.

so when jeno suddenly bursted into the bar yelling like a madman, jaemin only excused himself from one of his customers and made his way towards the worried detective. he set his hands on the other's shoulders and looked at him straight in the eyes, "first, i need you to calm down. second, yes, i'm okay. and third, what the hell happened?"

jeno let go a sigh of relief, "it's just...another murder was committed last night." he said, voice low enough so that only the two of them could hear.

"another one?" jaemin asked, acting shocked at the news given to him.

"yeah. once i heard, i just got really worried for you since it was close by."

the bartender's eyes widened to the size of saucers, "i could've been killed, oh my--" his hands fell from jeno's shoulders and over to cover his mouth.

"but you weren't. thank the lord."

just as jeno was about to comfort the male, he enveloped jeno in a tight hug. jaemin buried his face into the latter's neck as tears started to slowly fall from his eyes, "i-i could've d-died j-jeno." he choked out.

hearing the younger break down like that made jeno want to protect him with his whole being. this was also the first time he'd ever heard jaemin call him his actual name. even though it was covered up with stutters, he couldn't help but feel his stomach bubble up with butterflies.

he stood there, holding the weeping boy in his arms not wanting to let go as he's afraid something bad might happen to him if he did.

in the short amount of time he's known him, he felt a connection like no other. it was like fate finally took some interest in jeno's life for once. a twisted interest that is.
